Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer
Description

CPT is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to support the Gun Weapon Systems Division (E30) at NSWC Dahlgren. This role directly supports U.S. Navy gun weapon system development, evaluation, and sustainment programs in a collaborative, mission-critical environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical systems requirements management and engineering design activities supporting E30 Gun Weapon Systems programs.
  • Conduct mechanical design, integration, and test evaluation activities using CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Pro/Engineer.
  • Develop and review engineering drawings, design specifications, and mechanical systems documentation.
  • Lead or support mechanical systems integration, engineering, and design trade studies.
  • Participate in design reviews, Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) evaluations, and technical interchange meetings.
  • Support testing activities, including test planning, test execution, data collection, and analysis.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams on mechanical interface control and system compatibility.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 2–5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience, including design and integration.
  • Proficiency with mechanical CAD tools (SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, or equivalent).
  • Experience with mechanical systems requirements management and engineering design processes.
  • Active Secret clearance required.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Gun Weapon Systems or naval surface warfare mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with MIL-SPEC engineering documentation and government design review processes.
  • Experience with mechanical systems testing and evaluation in a DoD environment.
