Facilities Manager

SUMMARY 

Responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and functionality of all physical aspects of the plant. This role involves managing a team of facilities maintenance professionals, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and implementing cost-effective strategies to optimize facility operations. The Facilities Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining a smooth and efficient manufacturing process to meet production goals and quality standards. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Maintenance Leadership: Direct and lead a team of maintenance technicians, electricians, and other facility support staff. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for equipment, machinery, and facility infrastructure. Coordinate and schedule routine inspections, repairs, and upgrades to ensure optimal functionality. Manage parts inventory to support maintenance activities.  
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce and promote a strong safety culture within the facility. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed. Oversee wastewater management and ensure adherence to environmental regulations.  
  • Utilities and Infrastructure: Manage the facility's utilities, including power, water, and HVAC systems. Implement energy-efficient practices to reduce operational costs. Monitor and address any issues related to the physical infrastructure of the facility. Schedule and oversee facilities maintenance tasks, including PM scheduling.  
  • Budget Management: Manage facilities budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial targets. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.  
  • Vendor and Contractor Management: Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair services. Evaluate contractor performance and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.  
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and safety initiatives. Generate regular reports on facility performance and present findings to Facilities Director.  

Food Safety  

Responsible and?required?to notify management about actual or potential food safety?issues;?and empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work. If this position is vacant for any significant?period of?time?the obligation for completion of all food safety and quality related tasks will become the responsibility of the direct manager or a qualified designee.

Education: 

Associate Degree in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering disciplines or a combination of education and experience with a minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience.  Must have advanced understanding of facilitiesequipment and machines in a manufacturing environment. Prior supervisory experience and extensive expertise of knowledge in the specified area required. 

Skills/ Knowledge:  

Supports and creates effective teams, units, and work environments. Directly supervises a team of maintenance employees and carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Moderate to high degree of skill as well as some job experience and training in specific activities of building, and plant maintenance. 

Computer Skills:  

The ability to work effectively in a Microsoft Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook, and internal software programs).
