The Systems Engineer is responsible for building and delivering a stable, secure, and efficient systems environment. This environment may include physical, virtual, or cloud-based system solutions and applications. Systems should be engineered to support current operations and support future growth of Avadian. Other duties may include break/fix events, projects, cross-training, or other technical functions to support business operations.
This position is remote and open to applicants in the following approved states: Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure, including cloud services and Microsoft 365.
- Manage and optimize virtualized, containerized, and cloud-based environments.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Ensure the security and integrity of systems through endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and security best practices.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Monitor system capacity and report to management trends and timelines to support future business needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy new solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend improvements.
- Responsible for following all BSA/OFAC policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Prompt & regular attendance required.
Basic Requirements:
- Must have the ability to explain complex technical concepts to users with varying levels of technical knowledge and work collaboratively with users to identify root causes of system issues.
- Must effectively collaborate with IT colleagues on projects, share knowledge, and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Develop positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to facilitate smooth collaboration.
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.
- Effective communication and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience: Five to eight years of similar or related experience. Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python). Knowledge of firewall and VPN technologies.
Education: BA/BS degree in computer science, management information systems, or equivalent demonstrated work experience required. Certifications will be considered in lieu of a BA/BS degree or work experience.
Work Environment: This position will require regular travel to branch locations and data center facilities as needed for system maintenance, hardware installation, and infrastructure projects. Occasional after-hours or on-call availability may also be required for system maintenance, upgrades, or incident response.
