Accounting Internship Summary
The Accounting Intern will have an opportunity learn about the various aspects of the accounting function and gain hands-on accounting experience at Orbion. Orbion internships provide entry-level professionals with real-world learning opportunities in a fun environment to help build future careers.
Accounting Intern Tasks
Inventory
- Support inventory controls, counts, and special projects
- Analyze inventory data and produce reports to support decision making
- Prepare book-to-physical entries as applicable
Cost Accounting
- Test and update material standards based on recent purchases
- Conduct time studies to update labor cost standard
- Determine scrap and inefficiency rates to include in the standard
Document Preparation
- Assist in preparing and organizing financial documents, including invoices, receipts, and reports
- Assist in documenting various processes
- Maintain organized files and records of financial transactions and documentation
- Improve organization of accounting files in SharePoint
Minimum Requirements
- Current Accounting student - Graduate or Undergraduate (Jr or Sr)
- Completed Intermediate Accounting 1 & 2 and Cost Accounting
- Demonstrated leadership and excellence in work and academics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact comfortably at all levels of the organization
- Excellent technical skills including a strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-oriented, and dynamic environment
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise
- Able to work flexible hours based on business needs
