Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role partners cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering to implement scalable systems, optimize material flow, and support production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Process Development & Standardization

  • Develop, document, and maintain standard work, work instructions, and process flows 
  • Design and optimize assembly processes, line layouts, and workstation configurations 
  • Define requirements for tooling, fixtures, and equipment 
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and process validation activities 

Continuous Improvement

  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Toyota Production System principles to eliminate waste and improve flow 
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions 
  • Improve cycle time, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) 
  • Drive A3 problem-solving initiatives 

Material Flow & ERP Integration

  • Design and implement material replenishment strategies (kitting, kanban, line-side stock) 
  • Optimize warehouse-to-line material flow and replenishment triggers 
  • Ensure alignment between physical processes and ERP transactions within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 

Production Support

  • Provide daily support to production operations to resolve process inefficiencies, downtime, and quality issues 
  • Participate in Tier meetings and Gemba walks 
  • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) 

Testing & Validation

  • Define and support functional and burn-in testing processes 
  • Ensure processes and equipment meet performance, reliability, and safety standards 

Layout & Capacity Planning

  • Develop and maintain facility and production layouts (e.g., Visio or CAD-based) 
  • Perform capacity analysis, line balancing, and bottleneck identification 
  • Support capital projects, including cost justification (ROI, IRR, Payback) 

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and internal quality standards 
  • Develop and maintain controlled documentation 
  • Support internal and external audits 

Safety & Ergonomics

  • Conduct risk assessments and Management of Change (MOC) activities 
  • Apply OSHA hierarchy of controls to mitigate risk 
  • Improve workplace ergonomics and reduce manual handling hazards 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in: 
    • Manufacturing Engineering 
    • Industrial Engineering 
    • Mechanical Engineering 
    • Or related field 

Experience

  • 2–7+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or related field 
  • Experience in assembly, production environments, and process improvement initiatives 
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar) 

Technical Skills

  • Process mapping and workflow development 
  • Time studies and line balancing 
  • Root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone) 
  • Layout design (Visio, AutoCAD, or similar) 
  • Data analysis (Excel; Power BI preferred) 

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification

  • Experience with automation, controls, or testing systems
