ThermAvant Technologies, LLC designs and manufactures high-performance custom thermal management solutions, including advanced heat sinks and heat spreaders utilizing Oscillating Heat Pipe (OHP) technology. Our solutions serve terrestrial and aerospace applications. ThermAvant operates an AS9100D/ISO9001-certified facility in Columbia, Missouri.


ThermAvant Technologies is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder to join our growing team in Columbia, Missouri. As a key member of our advanced manufacturing department, you’ll play a vital role in producing high-performance components for next-generation thermal management systems used in aerospace, defense, electronics, and beyond. This is a hands-on position where precision, craftsmanship, and a commitment to quality are essential. Key Responsibilities

· Perform Laser Welding (and sometimes TIG) on production and prototype piece 

  parts

· Production Laser Welding primarily in aluminum

· Familiarity with Al flak 600 Laser Welding systems highly desirable

· Participate in development efforts for new metal joining techniques of various 

  materials – i.e. Copper, Stainless, Molybdenum, etc.

· Advise engineering on technical aspects with respect to metal joining of new units 

  and fixtures including setups

· Achieve and maintain certification/qualification on metal working processes, 

  equipment, and materials

· Aid in establishing and preserving documented metal joining procedures

· Maintain knowledge of internal and industry standard welding specifications

· Ensure attention to quality while meeting production schedules

· Practice and promote safety and good housekeeping practices

· Perform and participate in inspections, audits, and resolving non-conformities

· Properly use shop/hand tools, welding equipment, ovens and other equipment 

  required to complete tasks

· Work with others to promote and maintain a positive working environment 

· Complete other assembly work as required


Requirements

  

Qualifications

· 1-3 years of experience with laser welding is a preference

· Experience in a fabrication and welding environment is required

· High School diploma or equivalent or 2+ years of relevant experience required

· Advanced degrees or certifications preferred

· Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics for fabrication

· Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001:2008 or similar quality management procedures 

  and processes (preferred)

· Good computer (Word, Excel, e-mail) and communication skills (written and 

 verbal)

· Meticulous attention to detail

· Good manual dexterity

· Able to physically handle heavy materials (>50 lbs) when necessary

Desired experience with other tools, equipment, and processes include:

· Oxyacetylene torch

· Material handling equipment, i.e., overhead cranes, tow-motor, pallet jacks

Heat treating ovens

· Brazing ovens with a variety of atmospheric conditions (vacuum, inert gas, 

  hydrogen, etc)

· MIG/TIG/Arc welding

· General shop manual tools/environment
