About the Role
The Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the successful delivery of the annual plan through content creation and internal communication towards internal audiences; members and colleagues. This is delivered through a communications strategy designed, adapted and localized to the relevant audience as necessary.
Supporting stakeholders across the business, and reporting into the Head of Communications, the Communications Specialist ensures that activities, initiatives and change affecting our colleagues and member practices are communicated in a timely, engaging, consistent and informative manner, all of which needs to be developed and delivered in an effective, collaborative and digitally led way.
This new role will work with many functions but especially closely with channel owners within the Marketing team, with HR and the Project Management team. This role will also work together with the Head of Internal Communications to be a central link to our Communications Community within the Canadian and Global business.
Internal Employee Communications
- Support the Head of Internal Communications, the Senior Leadership Team and Head of HR with the execution of communication for Internal employee communications.
- Ensure that all communication is delivered to a high standard, ensuring all key stakeholders are clear and informed.
- Support internal stakeholders, and work with the Designer where required, with content creation regardless of channel, e.g. writing, editing, visuals, video production, coordination etc.
- Co-develop and manage our communication channel, Viewpoint, through content monitoring and publisher training where required.
- Be responsible for the creation of company monthly huddle content and any required follow up for Viewpoint.
- In collaboration with the HR team and leaders, announce new employees and changes in the organization using available communication channels.
- In general, support the team with all employee communication related tasks.
Member Communications
- Support and execute communications requirements and plans for all key projects and business initiatives for members through key member communications channels: Viewpoint, email, member events and The Quarterly.
- Working in collaboration with colleagues and key member channel owners, support and guide key stakeholders on delivery in communicating with members.
Channel development & management
- Working together with the Head of Communications, Relesys and key internal stakeholders, ensure we have the most effective intranet platform for members and employees at any given time, initiating, developing, improving and educating where and when necessary.
- Work closely with Relesys to manage and trouble shoot any challenges in Viewpoint.
- Become a specialist on the platform and help foster community and engagement with all audiences wherever possible.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field
- 2 – 3 years of experience in corporate communications, internal communications, or related fields
- Strong communicator with the ability to successfully influence at all levels of the organization
- Experience in writing at a strategic and tactical level
- Ability to work at pace across several different projects with competing demands
- Resilient, confident and assertive
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
