About the Role
This role is responsible for delivering physical security design across complex, large-scale enterprise environments, ensuring alignment with client standards and operational requirements.
You will lead design efforts from concept through construction and commissioning, developing design packages, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and maintaining consistency and quality across projects.
This is a hands-on role that requires both technical depth and execution discipline. The role operates in a fast-paced environment, supporting multiple projects simultaneously, and requires the ability to balance design ownership with collaboration and responsiveness.
About You
You are a motivated and experienced Security Systems Designer supporting an established global client with security design and construction projects. You will be responsible for managing the full electronic security systems life cycle to include assessment, design, project management, construction administration, and commissioning. Electronic security systems include access control, video surveillance and intrusion alarms.
- Lead the delivery of physical security design across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with client security strategy, standards, and operational requirements
- Act as the primary interface between client stakeholders, internal teams, and external partners to drive successful project outcomes
- Develop, maintain, and enforce security design standards, guidelines, and best practices across projects
- Provide technical leadership and serve as escalation point for design-related issues within the team
- Conduct site assessments, audits, and pre-construction surveys to inform security design decisions
- Design integrated security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion) within complex enterprise environments
- Produce detailed design documentation including:
- CAD/BIM drawings
- Device layouts and typicals
- Riser diagrams
- Cabling and conduit schedules
- Countermeasure schedules
- Programming and configuration requirements
- Bills of materials and cost estimates
- Develop and manage security scopes of work for construction and retrofit projects
- Coordinate and review Security Contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with design intent and standards
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, balancing priorities, timelines, and resources
- Support commissioning activities, including system validation, issue resolution, and punch list management
- Produce accurate as-built documentation based on installation and commissioning outcomes
- Ensure quality, consistency, and scalability of security designs across regional and global deployments
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across design processes and project delivery
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in physical security system design within enterprise environments
- Strong working knowledge of access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems
- Advanced experience with enterprise platforms such as Lenel OnGuard and CCure 9000
- Proficiency in design and documentation tools including AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
- Strong understanding of system architecture, field hardware, and integration principles (e.g., controllers, I/O modules, readers, power, networking)
- Experience producing full design packages including drawings, schedules, specifications, and budgets
- Ability to interpret and coordinate multidisciplinary construction drawings (architectural, electrical, IT)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate in complex, fast-paced environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for site visits and project support
- Physically capable of conducting site walks, surveys, and commissioning activities
- Ability to pass background vetting requirements, including Garda vetting where applicable
