Job Summary: 

The Product Director is responsible for directing the strategic growth, profitability and product management for Aspire General by creating strategies designed to maximize development and profitability opportunities. This position will support a team of product managers and analysts with managing a wide range of business initiatives including analytics, reporting, product filings and the development of new product capabilities in collaboration with various rating platforms, compliance and marketing strategies. The position will work closely with multiple business and IT areas including agency operations, the business intelligence community, representatives from individual business units and enterprise applications. The Product Director will be responsible for the management of a team of product managers and analysts.


Job Responsibilities:

1. Ability to work on complex problems / projects where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.

2. Works with staff to develop and delivers critical analytical insights; research, conduct high-quality analyses, reports, and communicate key product performance metrics.

3. Manages teams research on key business data using statistical analysis and data mining to understand historical patterns that can be utilized to improve business performance.

4. Along with staff and IT develop the programming of scalable and flexible data reporting and analysis solutions to fulfill the needs of the team.

5. Oversee team that monitors product performance/results in coordination with actuarial, loss analytic and performance analytics.

6. Oversee the development, recommendations, communications, and execution of product strategies to improve profitability and market share of programs.

7. Monitor the marketplace for emerging opportunities and identify competitor and industrial changes impacting the effectiveness of the current product offers and pricing position.

8. Work with business stakeholders to provide technical, analytical and strategic leadership, controlling aspects of the development of project deliverables including cross-functional program management, data gathering and manipulation, analysis and modelling, and communication of insights and recommendations.

9. Manages team in providing data mining, pattern and root cause analyses to understand areas of untapped opportunity. Leads team in finding areas of weakness and opportunity based on book performance. Formulates an analytic data-driven approach to address business questions around product, pricing, processes and/or underwriting rules to take advantage of opportunities and strengthen weaknesses.

10. Oversees Product managers in working directly with actuaries in developing and filing class, rate and / or form filings.

11. Provide leadership in creating and developing automated technical solutions to complex manually intensive processes via Microsoft tools.

12. Provide guidance, collaboration, and execution of advanced data analysis and product development. Enhance/maintain departmental data/databases.

13. Oversees and makes team available to participate in testing and QA work of various inputs to and outputs from the data warehouse and Business Intelligence application(s).

14. Monitor regulatory environment to ensure product compliance.

Requirements

Experience & Skill:


1. 5+ years of Product Management experience including managing product managers and/or analysts and performing roles and responsibilities listed above

2. Advanced/solid understanding of personal insurance business. This includes understanding of products, coverage’s, claim, underwriting, distribution channels, and business/sale centers.

3. Experience launching new states/programs preferred

4. Leadership, innovation and initiating skills.

5. Critical thinking, problem solving, negotiation and data analysis skills

6. Must have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

7. Must be team oriented and have excellent collaboration and team management and development skills

8. Advanced proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access and SQL

9. Experience in Property Casualty insurance including working directly with departments of insurance

10. Experience in business process and/or data analysis and data profiling;

11. Ability to set priorities and perform multiple tasks;

12. Ability to solve practical problems; deal with concrete variables in situations; and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;

13. Ability to adapt to a paperless environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. This is an exempt position which complies with alternative work schedule when applicable;

2. The office is that of a highly technical company supporting a paperless environment;

3. Travel will be required;

4. Vision abilities to work at close range and with small print;

5. Physical efforts required include, but may not be limited to, repetitive small motor activity, grasping, ability to sit for extended periods of time; up to 6-8 hours per day, verbally communicating detailed and important information to others quickly and accurately, stooping, reaching, standing, lifting light objects under 25 pounds frequently and climbing occasionally (small step ladder to reach supplies).

$160,000-$210,000
