LOCATION: Juvenile Detention Facility - Detroit, MI 48211
POSITION SUMMARY: Southeastern Michigan Health Association (SEMHA) is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services for youth residing at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. This position offers a unique opportunity to positively influence the lives of adolescents facing significant behavioral health challenges while working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
As a member of our behavioral health team, you will provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, crisis intervention, and treatment planning for youth in a secure residential setting focused on rehabilitation and recovery.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and establish DSM-5 diagnoses
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor effectiveness and side effects
- Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans
- Respond to behavioral health crises, including suicide risk assessments and interventions
- Collaborate with clinical, medical, and facility staff to ensure coordinated care
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EHR
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning
- Provide clinical oversight to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants
- Support staff training on behavioral health topics, including crisis intervention and suicide prevention
- Participate in an on-call rotation for psychiatric emergencies
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program
- Board Certification in Psychiatry
- Active and unrestricted Michigan Medical License
- Curren DEA registration
- Child & Adolescent Psychiatry certification (preferred)
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
Preferred:
- Child & Adolescent Psychiatry certification
- Experience working with adolescents in correctional, residential, or community mental health settings
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention and suicide prevention
- Familiarity with juvenile justice systems and suicide prevention protocols
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Part-time schedule averaging 16 hrs. per week
- Flexible schedule based on program needs
- Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation is required

Salary: $175.00 hourly
