Description
This position is responsible for assisting the Superintendents in supervising crew, dispersing daily crew work assignments, and participating in the maintenance of the golf courses.
- Ensures golf course grounds are maintained at pristine, tournament quality conditions
- Assists in supervising and training a crew of 20 plus employees
- Maintains and directs repairs to irrigation system
- Ensures that all fertilizer and pesticide applications are applied and recorded according to the product label
- Operates and maintains golf course equipment when necessary
- Follows all state and local safety and environmental standards
- Other duties as directed.
Requirements
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
- Extensive knowledge of turf, soil, fertilizers, pesticides, golf course equipment and irrigation technology
- Possess strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible schedule and long hours when necessary
- Keen attention to detail and strong sense of urgency
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
- 2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Facilities Maintenance or related field preferred but not mandatory
- SC Certified pesticide applicators license or able to obtain one within 60 days.
SENSORY/PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Endure long hours of being exposed to all types of weather conditions
- Required to walk and stand for lengthy periods of time
- Frequently requires the ability to bend, squat, twist, kneel, and climb
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-70 lbs.
