Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Description

This position is responsible for assisting the Superintendents in supervising crew, dispersing daily crew work assignments, and participating in the maintenance of the golf courses.


  • Ensures golf course grounds are maintained at pristine, tournament quality conditions
  • Assists in supervising and training a crew of 20 plus employees
  • Maintains and directs repairs to irrigation system
  • Ensures that all fertilizer and pesticide applications are applied and recorded according to the product label
  • Operates and maintains golf course equipment when necessary
  • Follows all state and local safety and environmental standards
  • Other duties as directed.
Requirements

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

  • Extensive knowledge of turf, soil, fertilizers, pesticides, golf course equipment and irrigation technology
  • Possess strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedule and long hours when necessary
  • Keen attention to detail and strong sense of urgency


EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS

  • 2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Facilities Maintenance or related field preferred but not mandatory
  • SC Certified pesticide applicators license or able to obtain one within 60 days.


SENSORY/PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Endure long hours of being exposed to all types of weather conditions
  • Required to walk and stand for lengthy periods of time
  • Frequently requires the ability to bend, squat, twist, kneel, and climb
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-70 lbs.
