Job Summary


The Director of Delivery is a senior leader responsible for ensuring disciplined, profitable, and high-quality delivery across utility software projects and cloud-based SaaS implementations. This role oversees either (1) Managed Services & Projects for mid-to-large utilities or (2) SmartCity SaaS Implementations for small-to-mid-sized utilities adopting our modernized, modular platform. The Director drives execution excellence, customer satisfaction, operational rigor, and team capability development while partnering closely with the VP of Delivery & Services to shape delivery strategy and ensure scalable, repeatable outcomes. This position requires deep experience in utility software delivery, cloud/SaaS implementation models, and leadership of multidisciplinary technical and project teams.


Essential Job Functions

Solutions & Domain Experience

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of utility software projects, including CIS, C2M, field service management, customer experience portals, integrations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Oversee SaaS onboarding, configuration, and deployment activities using cloud-delivery best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to delivery governance, risk mitigation, schedule management, and contract compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, security, and operational requirements relevant to utility environments.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise on utility operations, technology adoption, and modernization strategies.

Customer Focus

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to utility clients, ensuring alignment between delivery outcomes and business goals.
  • Oversee smooth transitions from implementation to post-go-live support, including SmartCity-managed services.
  • Facilitate executive-level communication, ensuring clarity around expectations, risks, and outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, proactive communication, and continuous improvement.

Sales & Business Development

  • Partner with Business Development, Solution Engineering, and Proposals teams to scope opportunities and support pre-sales activities.
  • Contribute to solution design, estimation, and proposal development for new projects and managed services agreements.
  • Identify expansion opportunities within existing accounts, including additional SmartCity applications or enhancements.
  • Provide delivery insights to support pricing strategies, risk assessments, and contract negotiations.

Financial Accountability

  • Own financial performance across assigned portfolios, including forecasting, margin management, and cost controls.
  • Ensure projects meet budget, schedule, and quality targets while maintaining contractual compliance.
  • Develop and manage operating budgets and monitor expenditures to align with organizational financial goals.

Supervisory Requirements

  •  Lead and develop teams of Project Managers, Architects, Analysts, Technical Delivery staff, and/or Managed Services personnel.
  • Conduct performance reviews, workforce planning, and capability development.
  • Foster a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Skill Requirements

Required Skills

  • Proven experience leading the delivery of complex utility software, cloud/SaaS implementations, or enterprise technology programs.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, risk management, and delivery governance.
  • Expertise in contract interpretation, vendor management, and customer negotiations.
  • Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams across technical, functional, and operational domains.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, Agile, or similar frameworks for managed services and cloud delivery.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Oracle C2M, CIS implementations, or utility billing systems.
  • Familiarity with SmartCity-type SaaS platforms, customer portals, field service applications, or utility modernization tools.
  • Understanding of IRA compliance and utility regulatory environments.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern DevOps/CloudOps practices.

Experience Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of progressive experience in project delivery, managed services, or cloud/SaaS implementation roles.
  • Leadership experience managing delivery teams in technology, utilities, or SaaS environments.
  • Prior experience overseeing multi-project portfolios, including staffing, governance, and financial oversight.
  • Experience in EPC, utility project execution, or large-scale technology delivery programs is beneficial.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred but not required.

Certification Requirements

  • PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, or similar delivery/ITSM certifications preferred.
  • Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) desirable for SaaS-focused delivery.

Travel Requirements 

  • Ability to travel 25–50% depending on portfolio needs, including onsite client work, team leadership, and executive meetings.
