The Machinist Intern supports the manufacturing team by assisting with CNC and manual machining operations under the guidance of experienced machinists. This role provides hands-on exposure to machining processes, shop safety, blueprint reading, and quality control while developing practical skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathes, mills, and other shop equipment to produce precision components.
  • Support machinists with machine setup, material loading, tool changes, and basic machine preparation.
  • Measure and inspect parts using precision tools (calipers, micrometers) to ensure components meet blueprints and quality specifications.
  • Perform manual tasks such as deburring parts, saw operations, and cleaning work areas.
  • Follow work instructions, blueprints, safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
  • Learn and apply basic quality control principles and documentation practices. 
  • Actively participating in safety training and complying with all company safety policies.

Hourly Starting Range

  • Entry-Level: $19 hour
  • Mid-Career: $20 hour
  • Senior-Level: $21 hour
Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Is currently enrolled in or recently completed a machining, manufacturing, engineering or technical education program (trade school, vocational school, or college)
  • Basic understanding of machining concepts and shop safety practices.
  • Ability to read simple blueprints or willingness to learn
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions
  • Ability to work well in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous exposure to CNC machining or manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with measuring tools such as calipers or micrometers,
  • Basic computer skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, metal shavings, and machinery.
