Assistant Controller
Description

Job Purpose:


An Assistant Controller manages daily accounting operations, prepares financial statements, ensures GAAP compliance, and oversees month-end closing, acting as the primary support to the Controller. Key responsibilities include supervising accounting staff, managing general ledger, handling audits, and analyzing financial data. 


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage the general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll staff.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and assist with audit requests.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FASB, and local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • The role may require additional hours during month end close and other critical reporting periods to meet business deadlines.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned. 


Requirements

Skills & Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 5+ years of combined accounting and finance experience.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA is highly preferred.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (models, formulas) and accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP).
  • Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. 


Physical Requirements


  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods. 



Travel


  • This position may require travel, as needed, to support operational and departmental initiatives.
