Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic sourcing professional to lead procurement strategy for raw materials across the organization. This role is responsible for shaping category strategies, optimizing supplier performance, and driving cost and margin improvement across approximately $250M in spend.
As an individual contributor, the Director will operate through cross-functional influence—partnering closely with Business Unit leadership, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, R&D, and Supplier Quality. This role will define sourcing strategies, establish governance, and guide execution, which will be carried out by local procurement and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and drive category sourcing strategies to optimize cost, ensure supply continuity, and support overall business and margin objectives
- Lead supplier strategy and commercial frameworks by guiding supplier selection, negotiations, and contract structures to improve cost, quality, and service performance
- Leverage market intelligence to assess commodity trends, risks, and opportunities, translating insights into proactive sourcing and risk mitigation strategies
- Drive cost optimization initiatives through structured approaches such as total cost of ownership, should-cost modeling, and benchmarking to deliver sustained savings
- Establish inventory and supply strategies that balance working capital efficiency with service levels, including approaches such as VMI, consignment, and safety stock
- Implement sourcing risk management frameworks to mitigate supply disruption, manage market volatility, and ensure resilience across the supplier base
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, finance, and quality teams to align sourcing strategies with business needs and product requirements
- Define and monitor performance metrics to track supplier performance, cost savings, and sourcing effectiveness, providing visibility and insights to leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field required
- 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or procurement, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments
- Experience managing raw materials and/or MRO categories strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing sourcing strategies, including supplier selection, cost modeling, and contract negotiation
- Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their application in a manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to use data, metrics, and analytical tools to drive supplier performance and sourcing decisions
- Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving strategy deployment across a decentralized organization
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPIM) and/or MBA preferred
