The Saint Matthew School Art Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and thorough art instruction to students in grades K-8. The teacher will help students explore creativity while building foundational artistic skills and confidence.
Planning and Instructions:
• Plan, prepare and deliver age-appropriate art lessons aligned with Saint Matthew School curriculum standards.
• Encourage creativity, imagination, and self-expression.
• Demonstrate a variety of methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments.
• Introduce students to artists, art history, and cultural art traditions.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and structured classroom environment.
• Utilize school-wide tracking and tech systems to collect, enter, and analyze students’ academic and behavioral data daily.
• Work effectively with students of varying abilities and learning styles.
• Collaborate with students, colleagues, and other members of the school community.
• Assist with designing and creating the annual yearbook.
• Responsible for the annual student art show.
School-Based Duties and Faculty Engagement
• Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school’s values, student management policies, and culture systems.
• Participate in school events that occur outside of normal school hours, such as parent-teacher conferences, field trips, SSP meetings and open-house.
• Engage in ongoing Professional Development.
• Attend weekly faculty/staff meetings after school on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
Requirements
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field.
• Teaching certification/licensure.
• Experience working with children.
• Must have authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.
