This is a dynamic “player-coach” role requiring both technical expertise and leadership capability. The selected candidate will take full ownership of site-level IT operations, provide direct end-user support (including within a manufacturing/production environment), and oversee an outsourced IT helpdesk to ensure timely, high-quality service delivery. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting at a workstation, supporting systems on a production floor, and coordinating escalations with third-party vendors and service providers.

What You’ll Do

On-Site IT Leadership

  •  Serve as the primary IT point of contact for the Aurora facility, ensuring consistent and reliable technology support.
  • Provide comprehensive support across both office and manufacturing floor environments.
  • Deliver rapid response and resolution to production-impacting technical issues to minimize downtime.

Hands-On Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Configure, deploy, and support laptops, desktops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Provide technical support for shop-floor technologies, including shared workstations, barcode scanners, label printers, and related equipment.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including user account provisioning, access control, and equipment assignment.

Infrastructure & Systems

  • Administer and maintain servers, Active Directory/Azure Active Directory environments, and file systems.
  • Support virtualization platforms such as VMware and/or Hyper-V, including system backups and recovery processes.
  • Maintain and optimize network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, VLANs, wireless networks, and VPN connectivity.
  • Monitor system performance, uptime, patching, and overall system health to ensure operational continuity.

Manufacturing Systems Support

  • Support and maintain systems integrated with production environments, including MES, ERP interfaces, and machine PCs/HMIs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may impact manufacturing uptime and efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations teams, and equipment vendors to ensure seamless system functionality.

Vendor Management (Outsourced Helpdesk)

  • Oversee helpdesk operations by monitoring ticket queues, service level agreements (SLAs), and overall service quality.
  • Escalate and personally intervene on critical or unresolved issues as necessary.
  • Ensure all support tickets are properly documented, tracked, and resolved in accordance with company standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with external support vendors to enhance service delivery.

Incident & Asset Management

  • Take ownership of high-impact incident resolution, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Maintain accurate tracking and management of IT assets, inventory, and lifecycle processes.

Security & Documentation

  • Enforce IT security best practices, policies, and access controls across the organization.
  • Support internal and external audits, patch management, and endpoint protection initiatives.
  • Develop, maintain, and update clear technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base materials.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in IT systems administration.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Windows environments, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN), and Active Directory/Azure Active Directory.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing or similarly complex operational environments.
  • Experience collaborating with outsourced or managed service providers.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in fast-paced, uptime-critical environments.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting MES/ERP systems within a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with operational technology (OT) and industrial environments.
  • Experience with endpoint and device management tools such as Intune, JAMF, SCCM, or similar platforms.
  • Cloud platform experience, including Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
  • Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) to support automation and system management.

Key Traits

  • Hands-on, proactive, and highly accountable with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Comfortable working in both production floor and traditional office environments.
  • Ability to balance tactical, day-to-day technical work with strategic vendor oversight.
  • Composed and effective under pressure, particularly during high-impact incidents.

Work Environment

  • 100% on-site role based in Aurora, CO.
  • Regular interaction with the manufacturing floor; use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation to support maintenance activities and incident response.
  • Involves occasional physical tasks, including lifting equipment, cabling, and hardware installation.
