Description
The Music Specialist will provide developmentally appropriate and engaging music experiences for infants through transitional kindergarteners. The Music Specialist fosters a love of music through song, rhythm, movement, and creative expression, while also supporting social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive development. The Music Specialist will observe student participation and growth, helping identify children who may benefit from additional support.

Essential Job Functions
- Lead music classes designed to introduce foundational musical concepts for infants, toddlers, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, Pre-K students, and transitional kindergarteners.
- Incorporate singing, simple rhythm instruments, movement, activities in a fun, engaging, and safe environment.
- Create age-appropriate lesson plans that build skills in rhythm, pitch, coordination, and musical expression.
- Foster creativity and confidence through opportunities for children to explore and participate in music-making.
- Partner with classroom teachers and leadership to support the holistic development of each child.
- Observe students for developmental milestones and communicate observations with appropriate staff.

Other Duties
- Achieve 24 hours of annual training as required by Child Care Licensing

Skills & Attributes
- Background in music education, early childhood music, or a related field preferred.
- Understanding of age-appropriate music instruction for young children.
- Strong classroom management and engagement skills.

Physical Requirements
- Must be physically able to lead interactive music activities, including singing, movement, and the use of simple rhythm instruments.
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and actively engage with young children.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and assist children as needed.
