PURPOSE OF POSITION

 The Cash Applications Specialist applies customer payments accurately and timely across multiple payment methods while ensuring customer accounts reflect correct balances. This role researches payment discrepancies, processes custodial payments, and supports reconciliation activities. The ideal candidate is proactive, with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness, wants to be part of a growing collaborative team, and is motivated by a positive environment. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and Excel experience are essential.  

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute accurate and timely application of customer payments across multiple payment methods, including checks, credit cards, ACH, and custodial sources with moderate complexity.  
• Apply judgment when processing custodial payments across multiple account structures in accordance with established guidelines.  
• Investigate and resolve unapplied, unidentified, or misapplied payments by analyzing remittance and bank data.  
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of payment posting to support month-end and ongoing bank reconciliations.  
• Collaborate with Billing and Accounting by supporting vendor setup, refunds, and payment reporting, utilizing Excel for tracking and analysis.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required 
• Associate degree or higher preferred 
• 1 Year of Billing/Accounting experience and/or industry experience required 
• ERP system experience preferred, Sage Intacct desired 
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) 

REMOTE WORKING REQUIREMENTS

• Have access to a reliable and consistently strong, high-speed internet connection suitable for remote work. A stable, high-speed internet connection is essential for effective communication, collaboration, and productivity while working remotely
• Designate a quiet, and well-lit space free of as many distractions as possible
• Be online and available to work during designated business hours in local time zone
• Accustomed to using Microsoft Teams (or similar virtual-meeting applications) to meet with colleagues regularly on video and use the chat feature for quick communications. We utilize many Microsoft Teams features (such as Channels and file storage) for announcements, relevant conversations, and file sharing. Familiarity with Microsoft Teams is a plus
• Accustomed with file-storage and file-sharing tools such as Microsoft SharePoint
