Industrial Business Development Summer Internship

Description

Location:  Seattle, WA area (hybrid: home-based and field work)
Duration:  Mid-May through mid-August (~12 weeks) 2026

Compensation:

  • $25/hour (~$12,000 total) 
  • Travel & Expenses: Up to $5,000 (mileage, lodging, meals, airfare) 

  

Business Purpose

The Industrial Intern will support B2B business development efforts in the Washington State market, with a focus on Construction Solidification applications (e.g., boring, HDD, tunneling, trenchless, slurry wall, etc.).

This role is designed to:

  1. Generate near-term demand supporting West region operations 
  2. Provide cost-effective, in-person market coverage, including customer visits, field observation, and ride-alongs with the hiring manager 

  

Key Objectives

Primary Objective
Drive customer engagement that leads to immediate sales opportunities. This includes identifying prospective customers, generating interest in Lignetics’ products and services, and securing qualified meetings for senior team members to assess needs and deliver project proposals.


Secondary Objective
Support the development of a scalable B2B sales and marketing model that can be replicated across additional markets to accelerate growth in the Industrial segment.


Sales Goals

· Generate 2+ quotes opportunity per week (24+ quotes total)

· On-board 5+ new customers (20% quote to close rate)

· Generate 2,200+ incremental tons of demand (44 tons/mo x 10 mo x 5)

  

Key Responsibilities

The intern will execute outbound sales and marketing activities, including:

  • Email marketing campaigns 
  • LinkedIn outreach and prospecting 
  • Telemarketing and cold calling 
  • In-person customer and construction site visits 
  • Distributor engagement and relationship building 
  • Utilize and refine AI tools to improve outreach efficiency and effectiveness 
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Access to a reliable vehicle for ~2 days/week of in-person visits 
  • Prior sales or customer-facing experience preferred 
  • Comfortable initiating conversations and engaging prospects with a proactive, persistent approach 
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight stays 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently 

  

Training & Development Opportunities

This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience and meaningful exposure to industrial sales and operations:

  • Site visit to a Pacific Northwest production facility to understand manufacturing processes 
  • Visit to Broomfield for product training and lab exposure 
  • Training on the Solidification Cost Calculator and Lignetics value propositions, including logistics and Industrial end-to-end solutions 
  • Hands-on experience with CRM tools and participation in developing B2B sales strategies 
  • Weekly team meetings and regular 1:1 mentorship with leadership 
  • Exposure to cross-functional leaders through scheduled conversations 
  • Opportunity to deliver a final presentation to business leaders summarizing insights and results 
  • Resume and interview coaching to support future career opportunities
