Description


Position Overview:

The Senior Parts Purchasing & Inventory Analyst is responsible for end-to-end ownership of the parts purchasing, inventory planning, and material analytics functions in support of Customer Technical Services for Johnson Health Tech Retail (JHTR). This role ensures service parts availability, inventory health, and material data accuracy to support warranty, non-warranty, refurbishment, and service operations.


This position is a non-supervisory, senior individual contributor role with a high level of autonomy and accountability. The role owns purchasing execution, inventory policy implementation, forecasting inputs, and parts analytics, while collaborating closely with Customer Technical Services, Warehouse, Quality, Operations, Finance, and Global HQ. Vendor pricing and contractual negotiations are managed by Global HQ; this role ensures those agreements are executed effectively through accurate planning and purchasing.


Responsibilities:

Parts Purchasing & Supply Execution

· Owns the full purchasing function for service and repair parts across assigned product lines.

· Places, maintains, and updates parts purchase orders with internal factories and approved third party suppliers.

· Ensures timely purchasing aligned to service demand, lead times, inventory targets, and operational constraints.

· Tracks open purchase orders and shipments; communicates ETAs, shortages, and risks to Customer Technical Services, Warehouse, and Finance.

· Adjusts purchasing plans by expediting, delaying, or canceling orders as needed to maintain service levels and control inventory exposure.

· Resolves parts supply issues related to availability, lead times, substitutions, and quality in collaboration with Quality and Global HQ.


Parts Inventory Management & Policy Ownership

· Owns parts inventory planning and execution, including: 

      o Reorder points and stocking levels

      o Safety stock parameters

      o Phase in and phase out of service parts

· Monitors parts inventory health, including: 

      o Inventory age and life

      o Excess and obsolete material

      o Slow moving and inactive parts

· Develops and maintains parts inventory policies adopted from enterprise standards and adapted to JHTR Customer Technical Service’s needs, with leadership input.

· Actively works to reduce aged, excess, and obsolete parts inventory while protecting service fill rates.

· Partners with Warehouse, Refurbishment, and Quality to evaluate scrap, rework, and disposition decisions.


Analytics, Reporting & Material Data Ownership

· Serves as the primary owner of parts purchasing and inventory analytics for Customer Technical Services.

· Develops, maintains, and improves reporting related to: 

      o Parts inventory levels, valuation, and aging

      o Service demand trends and usage patterns

      o Material lifecycle status and phase out planning

      o Purchasing performance and inventory risk

· Owns parts material setup and master data accuracy within ERP systems, including: 

      o Part numbers and descriptions

      o Lead times and sourcing

      o Planning parameters and reorder logic

· Provides regular and ad hoc analysis to support leadership decision making within Customer Technical Services.

· Continually improves analytical tools and dashboards to increase visibility, accuracy, and efficiency.


Forecasting & Service Demand Planning

· Translate service usage, warranty trends, and historical demand into actionable purchasing and inventory plans.

· Supports forecasting discussions by providing SKU level insights on parts demand and risk.

· Works closely with Customer Technical Services leadership to anticipate service demand changes driven by product issues, recalls, warranty trends, or lifecycle changes.


Cross Functional Collaboration

· Acts as the primary point of contact for parts purchasing and inventory planning for Customer Technical Services.

     o Collaborates closely with: 

     o Customer Technical Services (service operations, warranty, field support)

     o Warehouse and Logistics

     o Quality and Engineering

     o Finance and Operations

· Communicates clearly and proactively regarding parts availability, risks, and mitigation plans.

· Other projects/duties as needed. 

Requirements


Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Logistics, or a related field required. High school/equivalent degree with equivalent experience will be considered. 


Experience Requirements:

· 3+ years of experience in parts purchasing, inventory planning, supply chain, or material management 

· Demonstrated experience owning parts purchasing and inventory execution in a service or manufacturing environment 

· Proven ability to manage complex material data and analytics


Other Requirements:

· Advanced Excel skills 

· ERP system experience (SAP preferred) 

· Experience with material master data, inventory planning parameters, and reporting tools 

· Strong comfort with large datasets, trend analysis, and operational metrics

· A valid driver’s license is required for domestic travel

· Position will be subjected to pre-employment and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) checks. Must be able to successfully pass MVR checks to drive on behalf of the company.
