About the Sales Manager position:

The Sales Manager is a critical leadership hire responsible for driving the sales team to consistent quota attainment through hands-on deal execution, in the room presence, and direct accountability for team performance. This is not a desk role; it requires a high-energy, customer-facing leader who is actively working alongside reps, participating in customer meetings, leading deal strategy sessions, and holding the team accountable to closing business.

The Sales Manager will own the team's number. They will spend the majority of their time active in live customer interactions and in deal cycles, preparing reps for customer interactions, joining strategic meetings, removing blockers, and pushing opportunities across the finish line. This leader sets the standard through presence and execution, not from behind a dashboard.

The right candidate is a relentless closer and a field leader, someone who leads from the front, thrives in a customer-facing environment, and measures their success by the revenue the team puts on the board.

What you'll do as a Sales Manager:

  • Own the team's quota number and be directly accountable for sales performance outcomes.
  • Spend the majority of time in the room ( virtual and/or in-person), attending customer meetings, conducting ride-alongs with reps, and actively participating in live deal cycles.
  • Lead deal preparation and strategy sessions with reps ahead of customer interactions, ensuring reps are positioned to win.
  • Drive deal velocity by identifying stalled opportunities, removing blockers, and pushing deals to close.
  • Conduct regular pipeline reviews with each rep to assess deal health, forecast accuracy, and next steps.
  • Hold reps accountable to activity standards, pipeline commitments, and quota expectations with consistent follow-through.
  • Support and lead complex deal negotiations, serving as an escalation point in high-stakes customer situations.
  • Identify new business opportunities and actively support reps in opening and developing new accounts.
  • Consume and assist in accurate forecasting and report on pipeline health and team performance metrics to senior leadership.
  • Partner with marketing, product, and leadership to align on go-to-market priorities and remove barriers to closing.
  • Assist in ensuring CRM accuracy and enforce pipeline hygiene standards across the team.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive dynamics, and customer priorities to keep the team sharp and relevant in market.

Requirements

What you need to be a successful Sales Manager:

  • 6+ years of B2B sales experience, preferably in SaaS, Cloud, or AEC industries, with demonstrated success in enterprise or complex sales environments.
  • 4-6 years of experience managing and leading a quota-carrying sales team, with a track record of coaching reps to measurable performance improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead from the field, comfortable in customer-facing situations, ride-alongs, and live deal participation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a track record of influencing and developing consultative sales teams and collaborating with senior leadership.
  • Experience selling into large organizations with multiple decision-makers and complex internal decision-making processes.
  • Experience setting strategic sales direction and resolving issues impacting pipeline growth and market expansion.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas, both individually and as a team manager.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools; NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • SHRM People Manager Qualification (PMQ) certification or completion of the SHRM PMQ within the first 90 days of the position.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% travel.

Salary range for the Sales Manager is $130,000-$145,000 per year plus commission. This base salary range may vary depending on the experience, qualifications, and other factors of the individual being hired.
