Purpose:  The Warehouse Lead, Lexington, leads and manages the tactical and strategic operations and activities of the Lexington warehouse. This includes all receiving/distribution operations, including ensuring completion of tasking and accuracy, while building team proficiency. The position is an integral member of the Operations team.

Requirements

  

Essential Duties/Functions: To supervise and manage the Lexington warehouse operations, under the direction of the Warehouse Manager.

· Supervises the Lexington warehouse team. 

a. Supervises the warehouse staff ensuring compliance with company policies, delegating appropriately to complete necessary projects and tasks.

b. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow. Assigns staff duties and examines work for accuracy, neatness and compliance to policies and procedures.

c. Ensures that labor is being allocated in a manner appropriate for the order demand and consistent with Food Bank priorities. 

· Supervises the receipt and storage of product 

a. Supervises staff on unloading and accounting for delivered product

b. Supervises staff on the inventory control of new product, ensuring that the pallets show required information on pallet tags on USDA and COOP dry and frozen goods. 

c. Supervises the receipt of donated items ensuring superior customer service.

d. Supervises the storage and proper care of product within regulatory guidelines. 

· Supervises the smooth functioning of the order picking process

a. Primary functions of assigning and assuring that orders are pulled in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.

b. Communicating with the Warehouse and Receiving Team Leads on what orders need to be released as well as when they need to be released. 

c. Either performs or delegates qualified warehouse person to perform cycle counts between each batch of orders to address any discrepancies real time. 

d. Reviews order accuracy and conducts quality checks and studies. 

e. Standardizes procedures, with supervisor approval, to improve efficiency of staff and processes. 

f. Provides to Operations Director reports on productivity and order accuracy, as needed/requested.

· Supervises the agency pickup process at the Lexington facility to ensure accuracy and great customer service.

  • Manages the movement of donated and food sort product prior to      delivery to volunteer center and the sorted product upon returning to the      warehouse from the volunteer center.

· Computer skills, including Microsoft Office is required.

  • CERES and Paylocity      experience preferred.

Inventory Control

· Leads staff in accurately recording product receipting /distribution and devise other strategies to ensure the accuracy of product inventory.

· Works with Inventory Control Coordinator on assuring quality count of product to maximize the accuracy of our inventory. 

· Supervises regular daily and weekly cycle counts for both dry and perishable product and address any discrepancies ASAP.

· Addresses over, short, and damage discrepancies as they happen, and address issues as needed. 

Maintenance of Warehouse and Equipment

· Daily inspects warehouse facilities and equipment to ensure that the facility and equipment are properly maintained, reporting repairs that are necessary or required to the Operation Director.

· Trains staff in the proper use of equipment in handling and storing; and related problems.

· Trains and certifies operators on material handling equipment

Personnel Management 

· Trains new hires and current staff in methods and procedures for order pulling, safe equipment operation, customer service, warehouse housekeeping and other routines. 

· Performs informal periodic performance evaluations and annual formal performance evaluations. 

· Responsible for developing the team by cross-training qualified employees and seeking potential possible potential in others. 

· Handles issues and concerns with employee performances, attitude, practices, on a real time basis through positive communication and clear expectations.

· Position requires face to face communication and hands on activity. 75% of time will be active on the floor with 25% or less at a desk setting. 

Work and Food Safety & Sanitation 

  • Oversees and evaluates the safety practices of      staff while maintaining and developing the practices that will ensure      safety of all operations. 
  • Daily      inspects the warehouse to ensure there are no security and safety issues.
  • Supervises staff to ensure security and safety procedures are      enforced. 
  • Assess daily, that dangerous conditions are removed prior to an      accident or injury occurring (i.e., water spill cleanup, etc.).
  • Serves as a member of the safety committee. 
  • Oversees receiving and distribution of product to ensure product      safety and integrity
  • Maintains high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety at all      times in compliance with AIB standards. 
  • Ensures that empty pallets are removed from aisle ways, coolers and      freezers.
  • Supervises staff to provide housekeeping services for the warehouse      areas, as scheduled, or necessary, to maintain the highest level of      cleanliness and pest control to meet requirements on the monthly cleaning      schedule.
  • Assigns pest control to warehouse individual and performs spot      checks to make sure that standards are met. 
  • Ensures compliance with all regulations as they pertain to warehouse      operations, safety regulations, food handling, pest control and any other      standards as set by Feeding America or other duly recognized regulatory      agency

Essential Skills:  EXPECTATIONS: 

Given that God’s Pantry Food Bank is both a crisis response and an ongoing service agency, it is necessary that staff be adaptable and creative, able to deal with rapid change and unusual demands of time and effort. It is also imperative that excellent working relationships and a positive atmosphere be maintained with not only the staff, but with donors, volunteers, clients and all others with whom the employee comes in contact while representing God’s Pantry Food Bank.

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of five years warehousing and supervisory experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience required. Previous experience working with inventory and food warehousing preferred. Forklift certification and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required. Involves heavy lifting. Concern for the issues of hunger and poverty and their solutions. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to work with a broad cross section of individuals. 

TIME COMMITMENT: Full time 40 hours/week hourly position. Must be available some evenings and weekends.
