Description
The Shipping Loader is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient loading of outbound shipments, ensuring all products are properly staged, secured, and loaded according to company standards and customer requirements. This role plays a critical part in meeting delivery timelines by coordinating with shipping, production, and logistics teams.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment, with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Loading & Shipping Operations
- Load outbound shipments onto semis, box trucks, and trailers using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Ensure all materials are properly secured, wrapped, banded, or blocked to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify shipment contents against packing slips or load sheets prior to loading.
- Stage finished goods and components for shipment in accordance with shipping schedules and priorities.
- Assist in preparing products for shipment, including covering, wrapping, and skidding materials as needed.
- Work with Shipping team to ensure loads are completed accurately and on time.
Material Handling & Equipment Use
- Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, load, and stage materials.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and designated warehouse areas.
- Maintain proper handling techniques to prevent product damage or safety incidents.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues to supervision.
Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with Shipping, Production, and Inventory Control teams to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
- Assist truck drivers with loading procedures and direct them to appropriate dock areas.
- Communicate any discrepancies, damages, or delays to the Shipping & Receiving Manager or appropriate personnel.
Safety & Warehouse Organization
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe loading dock and shipping area.
- Identify and report safety hazards or concerns promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA and company safety standards.
General Responsibilities
- Support shipping operations as needed to meet daily production and delivery goals.
- Assist with general warehouse duties when loading demand is lower.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shipping & Receiving Manager or senior management.
