Description

A Pre-Scale Operator is responsible for measuring proper quantities of raw material for use in production. This position plays a crucial role in the logistics and manufacturing processes and requires attention to details. Effective pre-scaling is a step essential in meeting our quality and food safety standards. Managing ingredient LOT numbering and tagging as well as working with company ERP system.  

Requirements

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

· Sets up and operates all equipment in an assigned area.

· Placing loose or packaged raw materials on scales, adding or removing portions of the material to obtain the specified mixture.

· Utilizes Netsuite to create Workorders as needed

· Prints Batcheets according to weekly program schedule 

· Prints and identifies labels for each WIP 

· Understands using FIFO for ingredients

· Documents waste and follows return of ingredient protocols 

· Read work orders and/or recipes and record in real time and comply with food safety policies.

· Understands warehouse ingredients and LOT numbers 

· Communicates or escalates issues immediately 

· Works together in a teamwork environment 

· Reports all quality defects to the appropriate team members and shift leadership.

· Adheres to the highest standards of company and plant safety programs, guidelines, rules, regulations and use of PPE. 

· Maintains a clean and safe workspace which includes general housekeeping in all areas of production and additional areas assigned by plant leadership. 

· Demonstrates the aptitude and skill in math and reading

· Follows established sanitary production guidelines and all GMP for the work area. Understands products, allergens, and methods to ensure safe, quality food.

· Performs other related duties as required. 

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

· Good oral and written communication skills; prefer Spanish/English bilingual.

· Computer skills familiar with Netsuite systems

· Communicates effectively and accurately, both verbally and in writing. (English & Spanish).

· Reliable and honest

· Shows good judgment, sound reasoning, and good decision-making skills.

· Ability to use a calculator to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to accurately record results.

· Ability to work Monday through Friday and at times Saturdays, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

· 2 - 3 years of related experience working in food manufacturing. Additional education may be substituted for years of work experience.

· Previous material handling in food industry required.

  • Continually required to stand      and walk; stands during entire shift.
  • Continually      required to utilize hand and finger dexterity; repetitive motion of the      wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Frequently      reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, carries, and pushes.
  • Regularly      required to twist and turn body while standing.
  • Occasionally required to      climb, balance, kneel or crawl.
  • Continually required to talk      or hear.
  • Continually utilize visual acuity to operate      equipment and manipulate product.
  • Regularly required to      lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up      to 50 pounds.
  • Regular exposure to moderate to loud      noise consistent with a manufacturing operation.
  • Frequently required to wash hands.
