Creative & Web Designer (Contractor - Part-time)
Description

 

We’re looking for a talented, versatile Creative & Web Designer to join our team on a part-time contract basis. This is a hands-on role perfect for a creative professional who loves blending strong visual design and passion for technology innovation with functional web experiences.

You will be responsible for creating compelling visuals, designing and updating websites, and helping bring marketing campaigns for nextgen Silicon Photonics solutions for AI datacenters and foundry services at Skorpios to life. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent creative design and web skills, technical skills, and the ability to work efficiently within 20 hours per week.


What you will be doing:

 

• Design and develop visually appealing, user-friendly websites and landing pages (using WordPress, Webflow, Framer, or custom code)

• Create high-quality digital assets including graphics, illustrations, icons, banners, social media visuals, and marketing materials

• Translate brand guidelines into consistent, modern designs across web and print

• Collaborate with the marketing and product/ engineering teams to design campaigns, email templates, and digital experiences

• Optimize designs for performance, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness

• Update and maintain existing websites, ensuring they remain fresh and aligned with current design trends

• Occasionally participate in creative brainstorming sessions and present design concepts


Requirements

 

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Creative Designer, WebDesigner, or similar role

• Strong portfolio showcasing both web design and creative/visual work

• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and Webflow or WordPress (Elementor/Divi experience a plus)

• Solid understanding of HTML/CSS (JavaScript is a bonus)

• Experience with responsive design, UI/UX principles, and design systems

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines independently

• Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Located in Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, or Inland Empire areas preferred for occasional in-person collaboration)

• Experience working with startups, agencies, or small-to-medium businesses

• Knowledge of motion design (After Effects or Lottie) or 3D tools is a plus

• Familiarity with branding, typography, and current web design trends (2025–2026)
