Briljent is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Analyst - ETL Tester to support a State Government Medicaid Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) initiative. In this role, you will design, automate, and execute test strategies that ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of healthcare data flowing through enterprise ETL pipelines.
You will work closely with data architects, ETL developers, and business stakeholders in an Agile environment—leveraging Informatica PowerCenter, Teradata, and Azure DevOps to validate complex Medicaid data transformations and loading processes.
Key Responsibilities
Requirement Analysis
- Review Change Requests (CRs) and participate in requirement analysis for new EDW extracts and transformations.
- Collaborate in data modeling and requirement-gathering sessions to ensure testing aligns with business and regulatory needs.
Data Validation
- Perform backend testing to compare data from source systems to target Medicaid EDW tables.
- Validate source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and business rules.
- Ensure data quality, standardization, completeness, and load accuracy.
SQL & Scripting
- Write and execute complex SQL queries (multi-table joins, aggregations, validations).
- Perform row counts, null checks, duplicate detection, and referential integrity testing.
Test Strategy & Execution
- Design and maintain ETL test plans, scenarios, and test cases.
- Execute manual and automated testing for full-load and incremental data loads.
- Document results clearly and communicate findings to technical and business stakeholders.
Defect Management
- Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, or HP ALM.
- Partner with ETL developers to troubleshoot issues, retest fixes, and support regression testing.
Automation
- Develop automated data validation scripts using Python, SQLAlchemy, and Pandas.
- Create shell scripts for ETL monitoring and log analysis.
- Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines within Azure DevOps.

- 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance.
- 5+ years of experience testing backend systems, databases, EDW, or ETL pipelines.
- 4+ years of strong SQL experience with at least one RDBMS (Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- 4+ years of experience with UI, smoke, end-to-end, and integration testing.
- 4+ years of troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving experience.
- 4+ years of test design experience using a test management tool.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Required Skills & Expertise
Technical & ETL Knowledge
- Deep understanding of EDW and ETL concepts, including Star/Snowflake schemas and SCD Type 1 & 2.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica PowerCenter (preferred), Talend, SSIS, ADF, or similar.
Healthcare & Medicaid Domain Experience
- Direct experience with Medicaid systems and healthcare data.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, claims transactions (837/835), eligibility, provider data, and clinical standards (ICD-9/10, CPT, HL7).
Tools & Methodologies
- Azure DevOps (Boards, Test Plans, Pipelines), JIRA, or HP ALM.
- Agile/Scrum sprint-based delivery environments.
Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience validating Medicaid reporting, encounter data, and data marts.
- Familiarity with Medicaid Enterprise Systems (MES).
- Experience working with state Medicaid agencies.
- Python-based test automation and GitHub source control.
- Advanced Informatica PowerCenter expertise.
