Description

The Controller is responsible for leading the company’s financial operations, accounting functions, cost accounting, and financial planning activities. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports strategic decision-making, and maintains strong internal controls. Working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering, the Controller brings financial discipline to a complex manufacturing environment and enables the company to scale profitably. 


1. Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations 

  • Lead all accounting functions, including general ledger, A/P, A/R, payroll, and month-end close. 
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) in accordance with GAAP. 
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning cycles. 
  • Maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and safeguarding of company assets. 
  • Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.

2. Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance 

  • Maintain and update cost accounting models for BOMs, routing, labor, overhead, and burden. 
  • Track product and project-level margins; report variances and cost drivers. 
  • Monitor inventory valuation (raw material, WIP, finished goods) and reconcile discrepancies. 
  • Partner with Operations to monitor scrap, yield, cycle time, and production variances. 
  • Support pricing strategies and cost-model accuracy for RF/mmWave products and assemblies.

3. Cash Flow, Working Capital & Treasury Management 

  • Manage cash flow forecasting, payment scheduling, receivables collection, and working capital optimization. 
  • Oversee credit terms, customer credit risk, and vendor payment cycles. 
  • Support capital expenditure planning and ROI analysis for production and test equipment.

4. Financial Analysis & Business Decision Support 

  • Provide financial insights to leadership for strategic decisions, growth planning, and risk mitigation. 
  • Analyze trends in revenue, gross margin, costs, labor utilization, and operational performance. 
  • Build financial models for new product introductions, major customer programs, or investment opportunities. 
  • Prepare executive-level reporting packages for CEO/President and Board review. 

5. ERP, Systems, and Process Improvement 

  • Oversee financial modules within the ERP system (e.g., NetSuite). 
  • Ensure accurate transaction flows across purchasing, production, inventory, and sales order processes. 
  • Implement process improvements to increase reporting accuracy, speed, and operational alignment. 

6. Cross-Functional Leadership 

  • Work closely with Operations to align production performance with financial targets. 
  • Support Supply Chain with vendor cost analysis and purchasing strategy. 
  • Collaborate with Engineering on NPI cost projections, ECO impact, and version control for BOMs. 
  • Provide financial guidance to Sales and Customer Service on pricing, terms, and margins.  
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • 7–15 years of accounting/finance experience, including at least 5 years in manufacturing. 
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation, and WIP management. 
  • Expertise with financial ERPs (NetSuite strongly preferred). 
  • Solid grasp of GAAP and internal control frameworks. 
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling capability. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA. 
  • Experience with RF/microwave, electronics, aerospace, or precision hardware industries. 
  • Prior experience in a company with <$50M revenue and high-mix, low-volume production. 
  • Experience improving or implementing an ERP system. 
Salary Description
$148,720 - $200,000 (DOE, scope-dependent)
