At Helio Outdoors, we are expanding our creative leadership. The Senior Visual Communications Designer is a hands-on design leader responsible for driving creative vision, quality standards, and execution across all marketing design initiatives. This role plays a critical part in elevating the brand, strengthening creative output, and supporting Marketing’s growing scale through proactive concepting, strong visual storytelling, and disciplined workflow management.


In addition to leading complex design work, this role provides day-to-day creative leadership across the design team - assigning work, guiding execution, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring consistency, quality, and on-time delivery. The Senior Visual Communications Designer balances strategic thinking with hands-on production and partners closely with Marketing, Sales, and cross-functional teams to support both long-term brand growth and near-term business needs.


The position will be based in our beautiful headquarters in Stoughton, MA.

  

Responsibilities:

Creative Oversight & Vision

  • Set and maintain a strong, cohesive creative vision across Marketing initiatives, ensuring brand consistency and high-quality execution across all channels.
  • Function as lead creative partner for campaigns, packaging, catalogs, trade shows, and core marketing assets.
  • Drive proactive concept development and forward-thinking design solutions that elevate the brand and support business goals.
  • Establish and reinforce design standards, best practices, and quality benchmarks across the design team.

Design Execution & Hands-On Contribution

  • Serve as a senior creative contributor supporting the Aqua brand across packaging, marketing collateral, catalogs, presentations, trade shows, and other key initiatives.
  • Design and produce a wide range of assets including print and digital collateral, long-form catalogs, packaging visuals, sales tools, signage, and presentation materials using Adobe Creative Suite and AI tools (including Freepik and others)
  • Lead the design and production of product catalogs, including layout, visual storytelling, and coordination of updates across product lines.
  • Create hands-on packaging mock-ups for key sales meetings, including designing, printing, assembling, and constructing physical prototypes to support customer and retailer presentations.
  • Design and support visual assets for trade shows and events, including booth graphics, signage, printed materials, and supporting sales tools.

Team Assignments, Workflow & Quality

  • Assign, prioritize, and coordinate design work across the design team to support marketing and sales initiatives.
  • Review and provide clear, constructive feedback on design deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment with brand standards.
  • Own day-to-day workflow, prioritization, and capacity planning in partnership with the Senior Marketing Manager
  • Mentor and guide designers through hands-on collaboration, feedback, and example, supporting skill development and creative growth.
  • Establish and refine design workflows, processes, and templates to improve efficiency, scalability, and consistency.
  • Serve as a primary creative liaison with Asia-based teams, collaborating on packaging design, specifications, and production requirements to ensure brand consistency, accuracy, and efficient execution across global manufacturing partners.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

  • Assist  with visual storytelling and packaging layouts for business development ensuring objectives and retailer-facing materials are visually compelling, effective, and brand-right.
  • Collaborate with Sales, New Product Development, and external partners to ensure smooth execution and alignment across initiatives.
  • Support product photography and video shoots built for AI finishing, for use across marketing collateral and sales channels.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Communication, or related field.
  • Six (6) to ten (10) years of professional design experience, ideally within consumer brands, retail, or packaged goods
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating concepting ability, visual systems, typography, layout, and brand storytelling across print and digital.
  • Proven experience balancing creative leadership with hands-on design execution.
  • Experience assigning work, reviewing output, and mentoring designers within a team environment.
  • Strong packaging design experience, including mock-ups, prototypes, and print production (required, though not the sole focus of the role)
  • Experience producing catalogs, sales books, or other long form print materials.
  • Experience designing for trade shows, events, or large-format production a plus.
  • Strong AI knowledge and comfort integrating AI tools into creative workflows.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), AI tools (Freepik and others), and presentation design tools
  • Strong understanding of digital and print production processes
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to take ownership, provide direction, and proactively drive initiatives forward.
