POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for communicating parish, school, and ministry initiatives, programs, and events, among the parish and school community, for which the primary purpose is to provide opportunities for ongoing conversion and the building up of the St. Mary Parish family.
The Marketing Coordinator supports ministries and events and develops, implements, and maintains the total parish marketing strategy with the parishioners and staff through the use of the following communication tools:
• Parish-wide and ministry marketing materials
• Website management to include regular updates and maintenance
• Bulletin, Flocknote and social media management
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (to include but not limited to):
Weekly Communications:
• Coordinate, prepare, and edit weekly Parish bulletin working with staff and ministry leaders to include all relevant initiatives, events and news (LPI)
• Coordinate, prepare and edit weekly Parish Flocknote to seamlessly advertise all relevant initiatives, events and news
• Evaluate and update all marketing posters at the entrance to the church and in the vestibule
Parish-wide and Ministry Marketing Materials:
• Visionary skills to develop overarching branding & communication for the Parish; ensure presentation of a consistent visual image by promoting uniform fonts, images, and layout techniques.
• Collaborate with staff and ministries to produce advertising/promotional materials (including but not limited to brochures, flyers/bulletin inserts, door posters, banners, post cards, mailings, holy cards, and other creative print materials as needed)
• Support staff and ministries in “covering” parish events for the bulletin, website, and Facebook (follow up stories and photos). Schedule and collaborate with Photography Volunteers to be present at all parish wide events. Gather, edit and organize photos to be accessible by staff
• Design and gather content for the annual Parish guidebook/directory.
• Facilitate stewardship efforts, in collaboration with the Business Operations Team, through ideation, design, printing, and distribution of necessary print and digital materials (i.e. stewardship report, mailings, pledge cards, bulletin inserts)
• Active participation in Marian Festival core committee as the Marketing Chair (coordinate marketing efforts among the Parish and School including design and distribution of print and digital promotional materials and event signage/decoration).
• Prepares advertising materials and press releases for outside media such as the Denver Catholic as needed.
• Provides composition and copywriting assistance to the parish staff as needed for marketing materials.
• Collaborates with St. Mary Catholic Virtue School staff to share marketing material for parish and school events.
Website & Social Media Management:
· Responsible for the maintenance and, in conjunction with the Pastor and the Directors, occasional modification of the Parish website (vision/ability to make occasional modifications to site/page layout – maintaining site wide consistency and branding with fonts, images and layout – as necessary to facilitate the vision and mission, as directed by the Pastor.)
· Responsible for gathering and collaborating with staff regarding a yearly review of website copy and content.
· Responsible for updating website content (in particular: event calendar, funerals, resources including print & audio, and blog posts) in a timely manner to promote and give information about parish and ministry events, policies, contact information etc.
· Manages the evolution of the Parish website and other social media as needed; research and determine, in collaboration with Director of Business Operations and Pastor, best technologies suited to help promote and advertise Parish/ministries among parish/school members.
· Responsible for managing and creating posts to parish social media sites such as Facebook and YouTube.
· Responsible for training staff and ministries in the use of Flocknote, creating email/text messages (weekly and as needed), and continual promotion of the use of Flocknote among parish/ school members.
General/Miscellaneous duties:
· Helps field phone calls for request for information about events, etc.
· Maintenance and occasional creation of fillable forms (Adobe Pro)
· Maintenance and creation of online registration forms in the parish database (CHMS)
· Monitor and maintain the integrity and use of the parish and school logo
· Collaborate with the Liturgy department to coordinate, prepare and print the worship aids for the parish as scheduled
TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE PROFILE:
· Ability to adapt to and continually learn about new technology and marketing/advertising methods. Enlists outside expertise as needed.
· Marketing/advertising and graphic design experience (Adobe Creative Cloud)
· Website management experience.
· Proficient in use of Adobe Creative Cloud (Primarily InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro), Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Publisher, Word and Excel).
· In-depth knowledge of and ability to train staff (as needed) on the use of campus printing machines; experience with production machines a plus.
· Ability to interact and collaborate with staff, parishioners and vendors and clearly communicate publication requirements and deadlines.
· Excellent creative writing, grammar, composition, spelling and referencing skills.
· Often works independently, duties require independent judgment and the ability to analyze
facts to determine the proper course of action.
