JOB TITLE: Corporate Controller

STATUS: Full-Time

TYPE: Remote

REPORTS TO: Executive Vice President


PURPOSE:

Reporting to the EVP, the Corporate Controller provides timely oversight of the Company’s financial and accounting systems and records as well as leadership and management of company accounting staff. This position is responsible for the oversight of several functions including treasury, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, risk management, insurance, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial business systems. The Corporate Controller is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the accounting records, adhering to regulatory requirements, producing timely financial reports, and for recommending, maintaining, and ensuring appropriate fiscal policies and internal controls. The Corporate Controller will work cooperatively with the leadership team as well as other employees critical of managing the fiscal affairs of the company.


EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required. CPA and/or Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in financial accounting at a complex and diverse organization required (substantial experience in higher education is strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, problem-solving, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in a management position supervising staff required.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Working knowledge of financial budgeting & modeling using Excel, CampusVue/Nexus, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Dynamics.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates well-developed accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP and FASB pronouncements.
  • Oversee the monthly financial closing process, ensuring all general ledger accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.
  • Oversee and direct the external audit process, including planning and coordination with the audit firm, preparation of the Company's financial statements, corporate tax returns, and various schedules and reconciliations.
  • Ensures all federal, state, and local tax returns and other related reports are filed in a timely manner.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain effective working relationships with third-party vendors such as audit firms, banks, etc.
  • Prepare a variety of financial reports and analyses for internal and external constituents.
  • Prepare annual budget; provide forecasts as needed.
  • Monitor and assist in managing the Company's cash position and treasury management activities, including the preparation of regular reports, reconciliations, and projections.
  • Review, evaluate, document, and recommend improvements of internal controls.
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate staff using proven and effective management techniques within the guidelines of the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for staff as appropriate.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual reporting/distribution of financial data and audits to all required external constituents (i.e., Banks, S&P, IPEDS, etc.).
  • Coordinate meetings and related materials, and present financial results (actual-to-budget) to Owner, COO, SVP and Campus Directors
  • Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external constituents.
  • Manage time and other resources to meet established short- and long-term goals within agreed upon time frames.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Salary Description
$125,000-$190,000 Annually
