Description
Job Summary: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement activities within the manufacturing facility. This role involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of materials and services.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve the best value for the company.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications and production requirements.
- Manage inventory levels to optimize stock and reduce excess inventory.
- Conduct market research to stray informed about industry trends and potential new suppliers.
- Prepare and present procurement reports and analysis to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Mentor and train procurement staff.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification preferred.
- 7-10 years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of procurement principles and practices.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds with or without assistance.
- Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs.
- Must be able to travel including occasional weekend travel.
Salary Description
$95,000 - $115,000
