Purchasing Manager
Description

Job Summary: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement activities within the manufacturing facility. This role involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. 


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of materials and services.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance. 
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve the best value for the company. 
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or cost. 
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications and production requirements. 
  • Manage inventory levels to optimize stock and reduce excess inventory.
  • Conduct market research to stray informed about industry trends and potential new suppliers. 
  • Prepare and present procurement reports and analysis to senior management. 
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards. 
  • Mentor and train procurement staff. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices. 
Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. 
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification preferred. 
  • 7-10 years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of procurement principles and practices. 
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Leadership and mentoring skills. 
  • Familiarity with global sourcing and international trade regulations. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes. 

Work Environment:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds with or without assistance. 
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs. 
  • Must be able to travel including occasional weekend travel. 
Salary Description
$95,000 - $115,000
