Description

 The service of the Behavior Specialist was established for the purpose/s of effecting positive  behavioral change in all people that we support providing supportive interventions to families,  staff, caregivers, and most important, the individual, while complying with Federal, State, and  County policies, regulations, and/or procedures.  Mileage reimbursement for travel. 

 

Locations: Allegheny and Washington Area



 Contributions: 

  •  Develops interventions, functional behavior assessments, behavior plans, and specific  trainings for the purpose of providing a safe and cohesive environment for the people  whom we support.  
  • Assists in developing procedures and training materials for all involved with individuals  with challenging behaviors for the purpose of enhancing programs and ensuring that  program operations are in compliance with established guidelines. 
  • Attends meetings as required by our guidelines and mission statement. 
  • Conducts workshops, training, in-service presentations, etc., in specific  interventions/techniques and other topics for the purpose of developing skills and  establishing effective relationships with all team members. 
  • Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and committees for the purpose of  conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and to remain knowledgeable with program guidelines. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and  effective functioning of the clinical team.

Requirements
  •  The ability to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to continually upgrade skills  in order to meet changing job conditions. 
  • Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the  job include analyzing data; effective listening; facilitating meetings; monitoring activities;  planning problem solving; record keeping; training; and office practices. 
  • Writing skills; review and interpret highly technical information; write technical materials  and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to  define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions  of the job include age-appropriate activities/behaviors; regulations/policies; community  resources; English grammar/punctuation/spelling/vocabulary; and treatment modalities  and assessment 


 Minimum Training and Experience: 

  • Master’s degree in related area (Psychology, Sociology, Special Education,  Counseling).
  • Licensed Behavior Specialist preferred.
  • Certification for Functional Behavior Assessment (can obtain upon hire). 
  • Criminal/FBI/Child Clearances (can obtain upon hire). 
  • CPR/First-Aid – Infants, Toddlers, and Adults (can obtain upon hire).
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
