Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Ultrasound Technical Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide expert technical support for ultrasound equipment, traveling extensively to customer sites to perform system demonstrations, installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance. You will serve as a key technical resource, ensuring our ultrasound systems operate at peak performance and helping drive successful customer evaluations and adoptions. This is a hands-on, field-based position requiring strong technical knowledge of ultrasound hardware and software, combined with excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to travel frequently (60-80%+).


 Duties & Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to conduct technical product demonstrations, including system setup, configuration, and operation showcasing. 
  • Perform on-site installations, upgrades, and commissioning of new ultrasound systems. 
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and connectivity issues with ultrasound equipment. 
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support to resolve equipment malfunctions and minimize customer downtime. •  Conduct preventive maintenance, system calibrations, and performance testing. 
  • Support sales team during customer evaluations by preparing demo equipment, ensuring optimal performance, and addressing technical questions. 
  • Document all service activities, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the service management system. 
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and R&D teams to escalate complex issues and provide field feedback on product performance and reliability. •  Maintain and manage a company-provided demo and loaner equipment inventory, including transportation, setup, and post-demo processing. 
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, quality procedures, and regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO, etc.). 
  • Stay current with new ultrasound technologies, software updates, and service best practices. Travel Requirements 
  • Extensive domestic travel, typically 60-80% or more, including overnight stays and occasional weekends. 
  • Ability to manage a flexible schedule and handle the demands of frequent road and air travel.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on technical experience servicing and maintaining ultrasound equipment (or similar medical imaging modalities). 
  • Strong working knowledge of ultrasound system hardware (probes/transducers, boards, power supplies, monitors), software, networking, and DICOM connectivity. 
  • Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with ultrasound systems from major manufacturers. 
  • Technical certification or training in medical equipment repair (e.g., CBET, CRES, or manufacturer-specific ultrasound service training) is highly preferred. 
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation. 
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness/ability to travel extensively. 
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems, service software tools, and Microsoft Office. 

Preferred: 

  • Formal education in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related technical field (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree). 
  • Prior experience in a field service or technical support role for medical imaging equipment. 
  • Experience handling demo equipment and supporting pre-sales technical activities. 
  • Knowledge of multiple ultrasound platforms and vendors. 
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory compliance in medical devices.
