Job Summary: 

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, delivery, maintenance, and customer service at the JDH feed mill. This role provides leadership and operational support, ensuring the feed mill operates efficiently, safely, and produces high-quality products. The Plant Manager is accountable for day-to-day operations, including safety protocols, customer service, facility maintenance, cleanliness, and grain quality.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently manage production processes to ensure the safe, high-quality production of animal feed in compliance with industry standards.
  • Uphold Safe Feed/Safe Food certification and ensure adherence to Current GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) for feed production.
  • Monitor inventory levels, maintain stock balances, and ensure adherence to quality control standards.
  • Conduct regular quality testing, analyze data, and share findings with the GM to ensure consistent feed quality.
  • Lead the hiring, training, and development of employees. Ensure a productive, safe, and motivating work environment that fosters professional growth and accountability.
  • Manage employees to ensure effectiveness, encourage accountability, and support continuous improvement. Track and provide feedback on individual performance.
  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, opportunistic curiosity and contributes to creating an environment where people want to work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications:  

  • Experience: 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a feed mill environment, with exposure to batch feed manufacturing, pelleting, grain processing, and truck/rail operations.
  • A college degree in Agribusiness, Feed/Milling Science, or a related field is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks and analyze complex problems to create effective solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build and maintain a positive, safe work environment, and reduce employee turnover.
  • Leadership skills with a passion for driving operational success and a vision for the future.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Physical Demands: 

  • Frequent sitting, use of computer, communication via telephone
  • Ability to navigate an office environment.
  • Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, climb 75 feet of ladder, and be able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. 
  • Regular and predictable attendance in office or site location.
  • Job may require occasional travel within the United States.
