Description

Position Summary

We are looking for a detail-driven Human Resources Assistant to support the administration of employee benefits programs in a fast-paced correctional healthcare organization. This role supports a distributed workforce across clinical and facility-based settings. In this hands-on position, you will handle employee questions, status changes, and enrollments while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day administration of employee benefits (health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and leave programs).
  • Process enrollments, status changes, and terminations in the HRIS and vendor systems.
  • Respond to employee questions about coverage, eligibility, and claims.
  • Help coordinate open enrollment (materials, meetings, tracking submissions).
  • Maintain accurate employee benefits records and documentation.
  • Assist with monthly billings.
  • Liaise with benefits vendors to resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable law and company policies.
  • Provide support to the HR team with reporting and other special projects. 
Requirements

 Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree, although experience in benefits administration may be substituted where appropriate.
  • 1-3 years of administrative or HR experience preferred (benefits experience a plus).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfortable with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with HRIS and benefits platforms (e.g., Paylocity, Mutual of Omaha, Benecon, or similar).
  • Basic understanding of benefits regulations (ACA, COBRA, USERRA, FMLA, ADA).
