Position Summary

Laramie Montessori Charter School is seeking a warm, engaging, and culturally responsive Part-Time PK–6 Spanish Teacher to support the development of the whole child through an authentic Montessori environment that honors each child’s intrinsic motivation to learn. This educator will introduce students to the Spanish language through joyful, hands-on, developmentally appropriate experiences that foster communication, cultural awareness, global citizenship, and confidence.

The Spanish Teacher will create a prepared environment that inspires curiosity, movement, conversation, and exploration while honoring Montessori principles and supporting the school’s mission to nurture each child’s intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.

This position serves students across Primary, Lower Elementary, and Upper Elementary levels through meaningful language exposure, cultural studies, music, movement, storytelling, and practical conversation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging PK–6 Spanish lessons aligned with Montessori philosophy, child development, and school goals
  • Create a prepared environment that encourages hands-on language exploration through movement, songs, stories, games, cultural traditions, and practical vocabulary
  • Foster listening, speaking, vocabulary development, and beginning reading/writing skills in Spanish as developmentally appropriate
  • Integrate Spanish language learning with geography, culture, peace education, art, music, and global awareness
  • Adapt lessons to meet the developmental needs of multi-age classrooms
  • Support students in building confidence through joyful participation rather than pressure or rote memorization
  • Utilize Montessori-inspired methods such as repetition, real-life connections, grace and courtesy, and experiential learning
  • Collaborate with classroom guides to support cultural curriculum and interdisciplinary opportunities

Student Growth & Assessment

  • Observe and assess student progress through developmentally appropriate, strengths-based methods
  • Maintain appropriate records of student participation and growth
  • Communicate student progress with staff and families as requested
  • Encourage student reflection, curiosity, and confidence in language acquisition

Classroom Environment

  • Establish a respectful, inclusive, and engaging environment that reflects Montessori values
  • Support clear behavioral expectations through grace, courtesy, and peaceful community practices
  • Maintain materials, organization, and cultural authenticity within the Spanish learning environment

Professional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate positively with staff, administration, and families
  • Participate in relevant staff meetings, school events, and community activities as assigned
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing learning related to Montessori education, language instruction, and cultural studies
  • Support the broader mission, culture, and community of LMCS


Physical Demands

  • Ability to move throughout classrooms and school environments
  • Frequent standing, walking, speaking, and engaging with students
  • Occasional lifting of classroom materials up to 25 pounds

Schedule

  • Part-time schedule to be determined based on school needs and program design

Requirements

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Education, Spanish, Foreign Language, or related field)
  • Fluency or strong proficiency in Spanish required
  • Experience working with children in educational settings preferred
  • Montessori knowledge or willingness to learn Montessori philosophy preferred
  • Wyoming teaching certification or ability to meet school and state requirements preferred (may vary depending on role structure)
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for cultural fluency, child-centered education, and authentic Montessori values
