Description

Provides assistance, support and training relevant to the installation, functioning and ongoing maintenance of equipment, software, and web applications under the direction of the school’s Assistant Principal of Technology.  Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging in, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance.

REQUIREMENTS

The IT Technician is a qualified professional who meets the requirements to support the technical needs of Melbourne Central Catholic in the Diocese of Orlando. The IT Technician cooperates with the Assistant Principal of Technology and staff in providing an educational environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLILITIES 

  • Assist and support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations. 
  • Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging in, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance. 
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware
  • Technical knowledge of network and PC hardware, including Microsoft platform, Google, Adobe
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience. 
  • Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards.
  • Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.  Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation.
  • Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required. 
  • Perform computer maintenance to keep programs and hardware functioning smoothly. This includes installing updates and new software, performing hardware cleanup, and physically cleaning computers and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Requirements

  

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma required.
  • Some college with technology courses preferred.
  • One to three years of job-related technology experience desired.
  • Must be organized.
  • Ability to communicate, listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Strong command of both written and spoken English language.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed mostly indoors in an environmentally controlled setting. 
  • Work is performed in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. 
  • Work is to be performed directly on school campuses. 
  • Works frequently in close physical proximity to others and may encounter work in enclosed or tight spaces.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar. Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (15 pounds).
