Description

 

Core Purpose:   The Press Operator sets up, operates, and maintains a flexographic printing press to produce high-quality printed label rolls. The role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to monitor and adjust complex machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Core Values — Demonstrate and uphold the organization’s guiding principles in daily work.
  • Inspect Printed Materials — Check clarity, color accuracy, registration, and overall quality; identify defects.
  • Adjust Press Components — Reposition plates, adjust pressure, and fine-tune machine settings using hand tools.
  • Control Press Settings — Set and adjust speed, ink flow, pressure tolerances, and other operational parameters.
  • Review Job Orders — Interpret specifications including quantities, timing, materials, colors, sequences, and anilox BCM.
  • Install Press Components — Mount plates, rollers, dies, cylinders, and gauges according to job specs.
  • Monitor Press Operation — Oversee feeding, printing, and racking processes; detect and correct malfunctions.
  • Load Materials — Position and secure substrates in feeding mechanisms.
  • Mix and Test Inks — Pour, measure, and adjust inks; test pH and viscosity per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Clean and Maintain Equipment — Clean, lubricate, and maintain press components using solvents, brushes, and tools.
  • Operate Auxiliary Equipment — Run finishing or assembly equipment as needed.
  • Package Finished Goods — Pack, label, and prepare completed products for shipment.
  • Perform Other Duties — Support additional production tasks as assigned.

Skills & Abilities

Preferred Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical Certification or Associate Degree in printing processes

Preferred Experience

  • Previous flexographic printing experience

Computer Skills

  • Working knowledge of PC use and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Other Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude is essential
