Your Role on the Team 

This role is located in the Knoxville, TN Corporate Office. The Property Accountant ensures financial precision by analyzing accounting data and delivering timely reports to management. This role requires a detail-oriented professional to manage balance sheets, invoices, and general ledger maintenance while meeting strict deadlines. Manage full-cycle property accounting, including balance sheets and general ledger maintenance. Analyze invoices and research accounting data to ensure accuracy. Prepare comprehensive financial reports for management and property teams. Maintain organized documentation and audit trails. Strong grasp of accounting concepts, practices, and GAAP. Exceptional mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized and deadline driven.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly balance sheets and operating statements for multiple projects, ensuring accuracy for equity partners and investors. 
  • Compile and analyze financial data to prepare and post general ledger entries. 
  • Analyze invoices to ensure proper account classification and coding. 
  • Manage cash flow by recording deposits and coordinating wire transfers to maintain necessary account balances. 
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies related to onsite payroll, accounts payable, and software integrations. 
  • Monitor revenue and expense trends to maintain strict expenditure control. 
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and maintain general ledger schedules.
  • Support year-end audits and manage documentation for capital expenditures and replacement reserve requests.


Our Ideal Property Accountant?

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or comparable experience preferred 
  • Property management experience preferred; knowledge of Yardi, LIHTC, or HUD is a plus but not required.
  • Computer experience with Excel and other Microsoft products.
  • Recent graduates welcome to apply. AI or automation familiarity is a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Must be disciplined, deadline-driven, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
