Description

Southwest Christian School is seeking a full-time Yearbook Teacher/Arts Coordinator for the 2026-2027 school year.


Position Summary

The High School Yearbook Teacher leads the creation of a PK-12 yearbook as a student-driven publication, guiding high school student staff through the full process of planning, designing, producing, and delivering a high-quality final product. In addition, the Coordinator part of this position supports the Arts department by overseeing logistics for major events throughout the year, including box office/ticketing, scheduling, communication, and materials management. The teacher is expected to demonstrate patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing the day-to-day duties of the role and to prayerfully work with administration, faculty, students, and families to develop and maintain a school that is distinctively Christian, academically excellent, and globally minded.


 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to motivate and manage students in a project-based, deadline-driven environment
  • Provides instruction and assessment that lead to the successful production of a PK-12 school yearbook that reflects the life of both campuses
  • Creates a classroom environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement, and supports high expectations for learning
  • Uses available resources, including various technologies, to support instruction and production
  • Maintains accurate gradebook records and posts lesson plans weekly
  • Maintains clear, open, professional communication with team members, parents, and other school employees
  • Exhibits a willingness to participate in the school community by supporting, sponsoring, and/or leading extracurricular activities
  • Establishes and manages clear timelines, workflows, and accountability systems to ensure all yearbook components are completed on schedule
  • Coordinates with students, faculty, staff, and administration across both campuses to gather content, photos, and event coverage
  • Supports Arts events through scheduling, event coordination, ticketing/box office management, and communication
  • Assists with ordering and organizing materials needed for Arts events and productions
Requirements

 

Educational & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English/Language Arts, Education, or a closely related field
  • Current ACSI and/or State Teaching Certificate preferred
  • Three or more years of classroom teaching experience is preferred
  • Experience with yearbook production, journalism, design, photography, or publication development strongly preferred
  • Experience using technology for instruction, collaboration, and production

Work Environment

The work environment at Southwest Christian School is consistent with a typical school setting. The employee normally works indoors but may be required to be outdoors in unpredictable temperatures to monitor student activities, attend programs and field trips, or move between buildings. The noise level in the environment is usually low to moderate but may become loud occasionally. The employee is frequently required to interact with others within the school community, including parents and other caregivers.
