Description

The Senior Designer / Functional Manager will lead the design and development of trend-driven women’s intimates' product, helping to build and grow a new intimates division within a large apparel organization. As part of a foundational team, this role is responsible for creating brand-right, commercially viable product across bras, panties, shapewear, base layers, seamless, and intimate essentials while balancing strong creative vision with technical product expertise and business strategy.


The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, entrepreneurial, and hands-on, with deep knowledge of intimate apparel construction, fit, fabrication, and market trends. This individual thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands how to design within specific retailer requirements, target costing, and customer expectations across licensed, private label, and off-price channels.


Working closely with the Head of Intimates, as well as Sales, Merchandising, Sourcing, Product Development, and overseas factory partners, this role will play a key part in shaping the overall product vision, assortment strategy, and long-term growth of the division.

  

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Head of Intimates to develop seasonal product direction across bras, panties, shapewear, base layers, seamless, and intimate essentials. 
  • Help build and shape a growing intimate's business as part of a foundational, entrepreneurial team environment. 
  • Research and identify emerging trends, fabrications, silhouettes, trims, colors, and market opportunities to inform seasonal concepts and assortments. 
  • Create trend-right, commercially viable product concepts aligned with retailer needs, customer expectations, brand positioning, and target price points. 
  • Design product across licensed, private label, and off-price businesses while maintaining strong awareness of costing parameters and margin objectives. 
  • Develop CADs, technical sketches, presentation boards, and detailed tech packs to support internal reviews, customer presentations, and overseas development. 
  • Communicate directly with overseas factories regarding construction details, design intent, sample execution, and costing considerations to ensure product accuracy and timely development. 
  • Participate in fittings and provide clear feedback related to fit, construction, quality, and overall product execution. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Merchandising, Sourcing, Product Development, and Production teams to support customer opportunities and overall business growth. 
  • Maintain strong awareness of market trends, competitive landscape, retailer opportunities, and evolving customer needs within the intimates and value retail space. 
  • Support a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team environment while balancing creative innovation with strong technical execution and organization.
Requirements
  • 8–15+ years of experience in women’s intimate's design. 
  • Strong understanding of bra + panty construction, fit, fabrications, trims, and technical product development. 
  • Proven ability to balance creative vision with strong commercial product development. 
  • Experience designing for licensed brands, private label, and/or off-price retailers preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of designing within target costing and retail price point parameters. 
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator, CAD development, and technical sketching. 
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach to both creative and technical execution. 
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and cross-functional partnership skills.


Hybrid Work Schedule

4 days a week in the office, Fridays at home


New York Pay Rate $80,000 - $115,000
