Mascoma Bank is seeking a Commercial Portfolio Manager Team Lead to support our Commercial Lending team. In this role, you will partner closely with commercial lenders, build strong client relationships, provide financial analysis and portfolio oversight, and lead a team of Commercial Portfolio Managers. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial credit professional who brings strong leadership, sound judgment, and a commitment to exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
- This role combines commercial portfolio management, underwriting support, client relationship management, and team leadership. Key responsibilities include:
- Support commercial lenders throughout the loan origination process, including gathering information, coordinating documentation, and helping prepare complete loan packages.
- Analyze financial statements and credit information for current and prospective borrowers across a variety of business structures and transaction types.
- Assist with structuring, closing, and funding commercial loans in partnership with lenders and internal stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by delivering responsive service and helping identify additional banking solutions that meet their needs.
- Monitor portfolio performance, maintain accurate credit files, support annual reviews, and assist with covenant tracking, borrowing base monitoring, and exception management.
- Support lenders with delinquent or deteriorating credits by gathering updated information and assisting with reporting and follow-up.
- Lead, coach, and develop Commercial Portfolio Managers while supporting team performance, training, and daily operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field is a plus.
- At least two years of commercial portfolio management experience required; prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong commercial credit background, including experience underwriting complex commercial relationships and varied business structures.
- Ability to analyze financial statements, assess credit quality, and support sound lending decisions with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with commercial underwriting platforms is preferred.
Work Environment
- This role is primarily performed in a professional office environment.
- The position includes regular computer use, communication with clients and colleagues, and periodic travel to meetings or trainings.

Work Location: This position will be hybrid remote in Burlington VT, or the Upper Valley NH/VT, with an in-person expectation 2-3 days per week.
