Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable X-Ray Technologist to join our rural hospital diagnostic imaging team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in general radiography (X-ray imaging) and either have experience in additional imaging modalities or demonstrate a strong willingness to cross-train in other areas.
This role requires flexibility and adaptability to support a wide range of imaging services, including portable imaging and intraoperative C-arm procedures. The technologist will also participate in on-call coverage and weekend rotations as part of a small, collaborative team.
The technologist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in a patient-centered rural healthcare environment.
Additional modality experience may include CT, MRI, Mammography, Bone Density, Ultrasound, or limited-scope procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations in accordance with provider orders and established protocols.
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment, including portable units and C-arm equipment used in surgical settings.
- Provide imaging support in the operating room, maintaining sterile techniques and ensuring patient safety during procedures.
- Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring comfort, safety, and proper technique.
- Safely assist with lifting, transferring, and positioning patients in accordance with patient safety and ergonomic guidelines.
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation within PACS/RIS systems.
- Adhere to all radiation safety and infection control standards.
- Crosstrain and support additional imaging modalities based on department needs and certifications.
- Evaluate image quality and repeat studies when necessary to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and healthcare team members.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities and respond to urgent imaging needs after hours as required.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, equipment checks, and continuing education.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Current ARRT certification in Radiography (R).
- Current state licensure/certification as required.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a broad scope of responsibilities typical of a rural hospital setting.
- Willingness to participate in on-call, weekend, and holiday coverage as needed.
- Experience with electronic medical records and PACS systems is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or experience in additional modalities (CT, MRI, Mammography, etc.).
- Multi-modality imaging experience.
- Experience with C-arm and portable imaging, particularly in surgical and emergency settings.
- Knowledge of radiation protection and imaging safety standards.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and variable clinical environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Work Environment
- Rural hospital settings support inpatient, emergency, and surgical services.
- Requires participation in on-call rotation, weekends, holidays, and occasional extended shifts based on department needs.
- Requires standing for extended periods and frequent lifting and transferring of patients.
- Requires flexibility to support multiple departments, including emergency and surgical services.
