Michigan Millers is seeking an Underwriting Support Associate to join our team! The individual in this role will provide administrative support for the commercial lines, loss control, and premium audit teams. Michigan Millers reserves the right to fill this position at a level above or below the level included in this posting.

Requirements

What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?

  • Reviews premium audit requests and assigns them to appropriate audit vendors based on guidelines.
  • Processes final audit results.
  • Ensures adequate information is provided for the audit team to process.
  • Reviews and assigns underwriting loss control requests for new business quotes, renewals, high loss ratios, and service accounts.
  • Handles receipt of incoming reports, follows company guidelines, and issues recommendation letters, as needed. 
  • Seeks relevant information and answers to key questions.
  • Verifies that information collected and reported by auditors meets established guidelines.
  • Makes decisions for routine activities.
  • Applies knowledge to help solve problems of relatively limited scope and complexity.
  • Identifies straightforward problems and recommends solutions for more complex problems.
  • Maintains commitment to increasing both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Sets proper customer expectations.
  • Assumes responsibility for solving customer problems.
  • Ensures commitments to customers are met by responding to phone and email correspondence.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

What are the must-have qualifications for a candidate?

  • Prior customer service work experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with others. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work closely with various teams and departments.
  • Ability to design, author, or create written materials that support loss control efforts.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience in a related field. 
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills.
  • Proven analytical skills with ability to exercise sound business judgment.
  • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Compensation overview

The hiring range for this role is $19.72 – $23.66, hourly. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate, as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and / or may be considered for other positions.
