Starting Pay $14.25 - $17.25, depending on experience

Schedule Part-time, flexible hours that include nights, weekends, and holidays.

SUMMARY
This position supports the setup, execution, and cleanup of events at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. Event Staff work under the direction of an Event Supervisor to ensure event spaces are clean, safe, and arranged according to client specifications. This role supports overall venue operations through event setup, customer service, and facility upkeep. A flexible schedule is required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up event spaces by arranging tables, chairs, linens, stages, audio/visual equipment, and other amenities according to event diagrams and client specifications.
  • Assist with pre-event preparation and custodial tasks to ensure the venue is clean and organized before, during, and after events.
  • Monitor event spaces to maintain cleanliness, organization, safety, and compliance with facility standards throughout events.
  • Perform event teardown, reset rooms, and prepare spaces for subsequent events.
  • Maintain, clean, and store event equipment, ensuring items are in good working condition and reporting any damage or maintenance needs.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all public interactions and maintain a strong service-oriented approach when working with clients, staff, volunteers, and community members.
  • Respond to client questions or concerns during events and escalate issues as needed to the Event Supervisor.
  • Serve as Event Lead as assigned, including greeting clients, reviewing event details, and ensuring adherence to event timelines and facility guidelines.
  • Have a working knowledge of the in-house audio/visual system, troubleshoot minor technical issues, and ensure proper storage and maintenance of AV equipment.
  • Report any equipment damage, repairs, or maintenance issues to the Event Supervisor or Venue Manager.
  • Perform routine custodial duties including trash removal, restroom restocking, and floor care (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming) during and after events, when assigned.
  • Assist with the setup, movement, and storage of venue and gallery equipment and materials.
  • Operate point-of-sale systems for concessions, merchandise, food and beverage service, and ticketing as needed.
  • Conduct post-event walkthroughs with clients as assigned to confirm satisfaction and address concerns.
  • Assist in securing the facility after events, including locking doors and windows and supporting completion of nightly procedures.
  • Provide general facility coverage as needed, including answering phones and assisting the public with questions.
  • Assist other divisions within the department with event logistics, setup, and operational support as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings and follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Division Manager or Department Head. 


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina and endurance to cover large event spaces and perform tasks such as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexible hours that include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to learn and use point-of-sale systems and various cleaning and event setup equipment.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the work site.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) or currently enrolled in a high school program.
  • Previous event setup, banquet, or fine dining experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of event equipment and cleaning supplies.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Utah driver’s license required or ability to obtain one.   
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Food Handler’s Permit.
  • Ability to learn and operate specialized equipment such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, sweepers, auto-scrubbers, and snow blowers.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must be able to communicate in English and have basic writing skills.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, operate power equipment, and handle various tools and equipment.
  • Must be able and willing to operate aerial work platforms, including scissors and boom lift, and other machinery such as vacuums, sweepers, and scrubbers.
