The primary responsibility of this position is to transform raw institutional data from various campus systems into actionable reports and interactive dashboards.
The Institutional Researcher supports federal and state compliance reporting (including IPEDS, institutional and program accreditations, and NYSED), oversees internal retention tracking, and provides data-driven insights to advance student success and institutional outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Supports the Registrar & Director of Institutional Research in the preparation and submission of accurate and timely data sets for mandatory external reporting requirements.
- Designs, develops, and maintains interactive dashboards and data visualizations to monitor institutional key performance indicators (KPIs) and to support the operation of the College’s academic enterprise.
- Assists in the governance, validation, and auditing of data inputs and outputs within enterprise systems (e.g., Slate CRM, Colleague ERP) to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of student records and registration data.
- Provides regular data reports to support the operation of the College’s academic enterprise (e.g., academic standing, course outcomes) and responds by developing and delivering specialized data sets, analyses, and reports upon request from internal stakeholders.
- Provides analytical support to academic and administrative units by producing qualitative and quantitative research reports, including actionable insights, executive summaries, and visualizations of institutional and data warehouse–derived information.
- Supports the AVP for Institutional Effectiveness in the design, administration, analysis, and dissemination of institutional surveys to inform planning and decision-making.
- Partners with departments and programs to assess data needs and coordinate the planning, prioritization, and execution of data-related projects, including new initiatives, recurring reporting, and ad hoc analyses.
- Effectively manages multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism, discretion, and customer service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, decision-ready data products.
- Ensures that all assigned duties and deliverables comply with institutional policies, data governance standards, and applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, data analytics, data science, or a social science field with a strong quantitative emphasis.
- Minimum of three years of experience in data analysis, preferably in higher education.
- Experience in preparing various accreditation reports
- Demonstrated experience using SQL for data retrieval and PowerBI for data visualization
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint
- Strong working knowledge of student information systems, preferably Ellucian Colleague, and secondary information systems with reporting capabilities (i.e., Slate)
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Always understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality.

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
