Overview:
The Kitchen Aide at the York JCC plays a key role in supporting food service operations by assisting with meal preparation, delivery, sanitation, and overall kitchen maintenance across both campuses. This position helps ensure the timely and efficient delivery of meals while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. All duties must be performed in compliance with food safety standards, CACFP guidelines, and child care center regulations.
General Responsibilities:
• Assist with meal preparation, receiving and putting away deliveries, and delivering food to classrooms
• Safely deliver meals, milk, snacks, clean laundry, and mail to child care classrooms at the Gan Rimon Campus
• Transport kitchen dishes, mail, and dirty laundry between the Main Campus and Gan Rimon Campus
• Maintain daily cleanliness and organization of kitchen workspaces
• Check and record freezer, refrigerator, and dishwasher temperatures in the morning and afternoon
• Monitor dishwasher detergent levels daily and notify maintenance when supplies are running low
• Ensure accurate and timely delivery of meals while following all established safety and hygiene procedures
• Operate dishwashing equipment to properly clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and organization of clean dishes and utensils
• Retrieve food carts and dish carts from classrooms at the Gan Tamar Main Campus
• Wash classroom dishes and return them to the appropriate classrooms
• Properly store all clean kitchen dishes and supplies in designated areas
• Assist housekeeping staff with removal of kitchen trash as needed
• Clean countertops, sinks, stove tops, hot boxes/bags, and flat top surfaces using approved cleaning supplies
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working in classroom environments
• Follow instructions from kitchen supervisors and managers to complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in food service preferred but not required
• Knowledge of current kitchen sanitation and food service safety practices or willingness to learn
• Food Safety ServSafe Certification preferred but not required
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (mileage will be reimbursed for use during work hours)
• Ability to work both independently and as a team player
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads
• Willingness to undergo background checks and obtain necessary certifications if required
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of kitchen duties
• Ability to follow directions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Work Schedule:
Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–2:00 PM. Employee may leave earlier if all assigned duties are completed for the day
