Packaging Team Lead - 2nd Shift

POSITION SUMMARY

The individual in this role supports the Packaging Supervisor in preparing sales order shipments and collaborates with the Outbound team to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shift Monday - Friday, 1:45pm - 10:45pm
  • Collaborates with various departments to ensure timely fulfillment of customer order deadlines. 
  • Analyzes production schedules and estimates the required worker hours for completing job assignments. 
  • Creates detailed schedule timelines to ensure adherence to customer shipment dates and equipment specifications. 
  • Develops comprehensive process plans, including resource allocation, equipment utilization, and floor space considerations for each customer order. 
  • Plans the flow of materials within the department and designs the physical layout of machines based on work orders. 
  • Establishes and adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. 
  • Recommends measures to enhance production methods, improve equipment performance, and enhance product quality. 
  • Proposes changes in working conditions and equipment usage to enhance the efficiency of the shop, department, or work crew. 
  • Coordinates manpower requirements by adjusting personnel levels and overtime to meet changing conditions. 
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems independently or provides assistance to workers in solving them. 
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials as needed for production processes.
  • Assist with training of new and current associates. 
  • Participate in a collaborative work environment utilizing effective communication and willingness to cross train to enhance team productivity, versatility, and skill development.
  • Comply with comprehensive safety protocols and participate in ongoing training to ensure a secure work environment and maintain a safety-conscious culture. 
  • Follow all 5S principles and guidelines daily to optimize workflow, efficiency, and a clean work environment.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by management.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, & Skills required)

  • Ability to work the required shift:  Monday - Friday, 1:45pm - 10:45pm
  • Preferred: High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification; 4 years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities. 
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office and Outlook, ERP experience preferred.
  • Capable of following instructions and responding to management direction. 
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Exhibits experience working collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Has the ability to read and interpret various documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a warehouse setting. In the warehouse, standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, cameras, and material handling equipment (forklift, reach truck, order picker, etc.) are used.

Walking, Reaching and Handling

 Must be able to frequently move about inside the warehouse to access product and machinery, etc. Must be able to stand and walk 60% of time, lift up to 40 lbs. normal, up to 70 lbs. less than 10% of time.


Seeing

Frequently reads various documents and operates computer and other office tools/databases/equipment.   


Talking and Hearing 


Frequently communicates with colleagues, co-workers, and customers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  


Manual Dexterity

 Frequently operates a computer and warehouse machinery.
