Position Summary:

Newfi Lending is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and highly customer-focused Senior Vice President, Second Mortgage Strategy to lead the development, execution, sales growth, and expansion of the company’s second lien mortgage platform. This leader will be responsible for driving overall strategy, product development, operational execution, capital markets alignment, and market adoption of Closed-End Second Mortgages, HELOCs, and other second lien products across retail, wholesale, and correspondent channels.


This is a highly visible, externally facing role that will work directly with customers, brokers, correspondent partners, investors, and internal sales teams to build demand, shape product positioning, drive adoption, and support production growth. The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of second lien product expertise, mortgage sales acumen, market credibility, and the ability to translate customer and partner needs into scalable, profitable lending solutions.


The Senior Vice President, Second Mortgage Strategy will work cross-functionally with Capital Markets, Sales, Operations, Credit Policy, Compliance, Technology, and Executive Leadership to position Newfi as a market leader in the second lien space.

Requirements

  

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute Newfi’s enterprise-wide second mortgage strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives.
  • Identify market opportunities, competitive positioning, and emerging trends within second lien lending.
  • Build scalable growth plans for second mortgage production across wholesale, retail, and correspondent channels.
  • Establish performance metrics, profitability targets, and operational KPIs for the second mortgage business.
  • Serve as the executive business owner and market-facing leader for Newfi’s second lien product suite. 
  • Translate customer, partner, and sales feedback into product strategy, guideline enhancements, and competitive positioning. 
  • Partner closely with Sales Leadership to identify market opportunities, production trends, and customer demand across channels.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Lead the design, enhancement, and rollout of second mortgage products including HELOCs and closed-end second liens.
  • Partner with Capital Markets and investors to structure competitive and scalable product offerings.
  • Evaluate pricing strategies, credit overlays, guideline enhancements, and borrower segmentation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Technology and Operations teams to improve automation, workflow efficiency, and borrower experience.
  • Ensure product offerings are positioned to meet market demand while supporting profitability, risk standards, and long-term growth.

Operational & Credit Oversight

  • Work closely with underwriting, processing, closing, and servicing teams to optimize operational execution and loan quality.
  • Ensure products and processes align with investor guidelines, compliance requirements, and internal risk standards.
  • Monitor pipeline performance, turn times, pull-through rates, and operational scalability.
  • Partner with Credit Risk and Compliance to maintain sound underwriting and portfolio performance.
  • Identify operational friction points that may impact customer experience, sales effectiveness, or overall production growth, and partner cross-functionally to resolve them.

Sales, Customer Engagement & Business Development

  • Serve as a highly visible, customer-facing subject matter expert for Newfi’s second lien products across wholesale, retail, and correspondent channels.      
  • Partner directly with Sales Leadership and field sales teams to drive product adoption, revenue growth, and market penetration.
  • Participate in strategic partner meetings to educate the market, identify opportunities, and support business development efforts.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with brokers, correspondents, investors, and industry partners to expand Newfi’s presence in the second lien market.
  • Develop sales enablement tools, product messaging, training materials, and go-to-market strategies that support loan officers, account executives, and channel leadership.  
  • Monitor customer feedback, competitor activity, and market demand to refine product positioning and improve sales execution.
  • Represent Newfi at industry events, conferences, webinars, and strategic partner meetings as a thought leader in second lien lending.
  • Support the sales organization in identifying production opportunities, overcoming product-related objections, and strengthening Newfi’s competitive positioning in the market.

Analytics & Performance Management

  • Analyze production trends, profitability, market share, and loan performance metrics.
  • Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on growth, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

  • Measure product success through production volume, revenue contribution, utilization across sales channels, customer feedback, and operational performance.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of mortgage industry experience with significant exposure to second mortgage products, HELOCs, Non-QM, or home      equity lending.
  • 6+ years of leadership experience in mortgage strategy, product development, sales leadership, capital markets, secondary marketing, or a closely related function.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage operations, underwriting, compliance, pricing, investor delivery, and customer-facing      product execution. 
  • Proven track record of successfully launching or scaling mortgage products and programs.
  • Deep knowledge of agency, Non-QM, and private investor guidelines related to second lien lending.
  • Proven ability to drive production growth through customer engagement, sales strategy, and market-facing product leadership.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to confidently present to customers, industry partners, sales teams, and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated success translating market feedback and customer needs into actionable product, pricing, and business development strategies.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and strategic planning skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced growth environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building or managing second mortgage or HELOC programs at a national lender.
  • Existing relationships with investors, warehouse banks, aggregators, or capital markets participants.
  • Experience within Non-QM or alternative credit lending environments.
  • Familiarity with mortgage technology platforms and digital lending solutions.
  • Prior experience serving as a customer-facing product, strategy, or business development leader in mortgage lending.
